Identity Verification

Hi Team, 

 

Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -

Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?

Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?

Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

 

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria. 

 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

Hi Bhavisha,

 

It looks like you haven't completed the verification yet. You must upload an ID to verify your location. Acceptable documents include: passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (the Philippines only), tribal documents, tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

 

Kindly check this help article for more information. 

 

If the issue persists and you still have problems verifying your location, please try clearing your browser cache and cookies or use a different browser then reupload the photo of your ID.

Hello, 

 

I am required to do an Identity Verfification and there is only Passeport as ID type. I only have a NIC. I tried to upload it still,  but it always fail.  May you help me please ?

You can do a National ID Card for the Verification process. Or contact Upwork Support.

Hello.

My identity confirmation is still being processed. Is it possible to reset the confirmation in order to resubmit the documents? Or is there something we can do to speed up identity verification?

My account has been stuck on verification for  a week.

I uploaded all the required documents.

Never received any feedback and I dont know what else to do...

You will have to click on continue and then proceed for identification process. It seems from screen shot that ID verification is still pending.

My account verification is stuck at 'Visual verification'. Visual verification subheading reads - 'We are reviewing your selfie which typically takes a few minutes, but could take up to 1 business day' but it has been more than 4 days and it's still not verified. Document verification and Location verification has passed. There is no way to reupload the selfie. What's the solution to this?

I have been trying more than 10 times to verify my ID, and after sending the photos of my ID it goes to the state "We are reviewing your ID", then it leaves that state and asks me to enter the ID verification again.

I repeat: I have sent photos of my documents of the best quality 10 times and they always ask me again

Hello,
It's been four days, and still no updates on my Identity Verification.
I had a warning saying we're reviewing your ID.

The warning is gone and haven't received any emails about it.
Where should I contact?
I cannot create any support ticket or talk to any live agent with the support bot it always replies the same.

It looks like you uploaded an unsupported type of ID. Please try again with one of the following supported types.

Hey Team,
I am Rajib
I have been trying to verify my profile from the last 5 days. I uploaded my NID card copy as a verification it's a printed copy of my NID. Each time I upload it shows that NID is uploaded and Upwork will review and get back to me. 

The problem is after uploading the NID within one hour it's showing like I'ven't uploaded my NID and two times I get mail as well that I have only 2days to verify my profile. 

I was working from different PC with this account I am not sure if this is the reason or what. But I really need this to be sorted please help me.

Hi Rajib,

 

Upon checking, it appears that there's a need for you to complete the verification by going to Settings > Identity Verification > Continue:

Just a few reminders about the document that you need to submit:
 

  • Do not edit the image in any way.
  • We must be able to clearly see the front of your ID. If the expiration date is on the back of your photo ID, then you must also send us a scan of the back of the card
  • Your name and address, and the utility company or bank address information, must be visible on the billing statement you submit.
  • All four corners of your ID/statement need to be visible in the image.
  • Images should be in color and at least 200 dpi.
  • Images should be a PNG, JPEG, PDF, or BMP file.

 
Once submitted, it will be forwarded to our verifications team for review and they will give you an update within 48 to 72 hours.

Hey, I recently got a request to verify my upwork account, and I tried verifying it with government issued national Id. I uploaded the picture and after a day it says we couldn't verify you id. The problem is there is no option to choose national id card, so I used passport option which I thought was closer but I still couldn't verify it. It says "It looks like you uploaded an unsupported type of ID. Please try again with one of the following supported types."
