Identity Verification

Hey. After getting my first job, I can't apply for any job! The "Apply now" button is disabled. I have 28 connects.
Also my public profile saying: "Profile no longer available".

Hi all,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

In addition, if you are having trouble completing the verification process, please ensure that your mobile browser is in mobile view to proceed smoothly with the verification. Also, please ensure that you allow us to access your camera by turning the permission on. For your guidance, please see the details below:
 

For Google Chrome

  • On the left of your address bar, tap Camera or Microphone. These icons only appear if you previously changed your camera and microphone permissions for the site. Turn Permissions on or off.

For Safari

  • Go to Settings on your device. Scroll down and open the Safari tab. Ensure Camera & Microphone are set to Allow.

 

Tips to capture an image:

  • Take the photo of the ID from above, with the ID lying on a flat, dark surface
  • Don’t cover up any part of the ID or your face
  • Leave margins on all sides of the image
  • Don’t use a flash

Hi Mahmoud,

 

Thank you for your message. I checked and see that your you are required to complete a verification process to clear the limitation on your account. You can visit your Identity Verification settings page and follow the steps provided. Once completed, your account will be resumed, and your profile will become available within 24 hours. If the issue persists, let us know so we can help you further.

Hi Ronna, thanks for replying.

I went to identity verification and I saw that there are 3 ways of verification and I don't have any of them. I only have an ID card so I submitted it in the driver linsces. Is that ok? And when it will be verified?

Hi Mahmoud,

 

I checked and it looks like you are required to update your profile name. To do so, please go to Settings > Contact Info to edit your name. Please check the following guidelines for profile name:

 

  • Use a name that you go by in real life
  • Do not use single letters or initials — to protect your privacy, we’ll display your last name as an initial on your public profile, but you need to enter your full name
  • If you only have one legal name, enter that name as your first name and again as your last name
  • Your verified name in Upwork must still match the name on your payment account, even though your profile name might be different
  • Do not use a name that is abusive or discriminatory
  • Do not misrepresent your identity or pretend to be someone else. The name you use should be what you use to represent yourself in real life
  • Do not use a company name or a name that describes your work instead of who you are (such as calling yourself “SEO Expert” or “Data Analyst”)*
  • You cannot transfer accounts from one person to another

If your profile name does not meet these guidelines, we may restrict your account until you change it. We may also request supporting documentation to verify your identity.

Hi Upwork community i have same issue verify notication shows and apply for job is unavailable and profile is not longer visible when i see public view of my profile and when click to verify it seems like 2 tick on government id and 2 yellow mark on video verification and there is no option i can click to do any thing else? what should i do? solve my problem please

Hello Mr. Luiggi, Kindly escalate my issue too. I already uploaded my governement Id and my selfie after being required. I was told I would be contacted about it within at most 48 hours.

However, more than 48 hours later, no email, no verification and now I can not apply to jobs.

I am surely frustrated, yet I had just completed a job.

To complete your verification more efficiently, you can refer to the tips section on this help page. You can resubmit your documents from the Settings page.

Hi sir, i'm also experiencing the same situation. Please help solve this. I can't verified my identity coz theres no way to click the options coz it was mark yellow.

Upwork is reviewing your identity manually. They will contact you if they need anything. It should take between 1 and 3 days. In the meantime, you can review the Academy resources at the top of this page.

Denzille, upon checking, it seems that your previous submission was rejected because the image of your ID card was not acceptable. Please avoid cropping, altering, or uploading a screenshot of your ID card. Kindly make sure that there will be no missing informaiton. You may complete the ID Verification process again through this page

 

Before you start the process, please make sure you can verify your identity in two ways, by providing an official government ID and meeting with us for a video chat. If you cannot complete the verification process, you will not be able to work on Upwork. You can learn more here

our team requests that you send a bank document showing your name in the secure link provided in your support ticket here in order for them to complete the verification process. Alternatively, you can change your profile name to the name on the bank account. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi Upwork community, I have same ussue verify notication shows. I can't apply job and my profile is not longer available when I see in public view of my profile site. Good afternoon, team

 

I have completed the identity verification process, I received a notification confirming that my profile has been verified (Please refer to email attached) and when I try to apply for a job, I get a banner asking to verify my identity again.

 

It is currently under manual review status, could you tell me how long that would take oir if I have to provide any additional information?

Hi, I'm also having verification issues. I'm new here and when I try to verify the link Upwork provides to verify is not working. When I select the link it takes me to a page that says "When I select the link...it's telling me that "Access blocked: Upwork-SSO's request does not comply with google's policies". When I try to follow the "enable your cookies" solution... it still doesn't work. I don't know what to do now. Please help.

I am also having the same problem with mine. I have tried submitting multiple times already and I can't submit anymore. I used my Philippine National ID Card as my government-issued id and for some reason, it doesn't get accepted. I have contacted your customer support team already and still waiting for some solution. What should I do?

Your profile needs to be in English. You might want to start with that.
