Identity Verification

Hi Team, 

 

Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -

Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?

Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?

Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

 

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria. 

 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek urgent assistance regarding the verification of my identity for Upwork. 

As per the requirements, I understand that a valid form of identification is necessary. Presently, I have my Birth Certificate, National Identification Number (NIN), and Permanent Address Identification Certification available. Unfortunately, my passport, which is an additional form of identification, is still in the process of being issued and is not expected to be ready for at least another month due to administrative delays.

Is there any way that the documents I currently possess can be considered for the verification process, considering the exceptional circumstance of my pending passport application?

Please I have sent out multiple emails concerning my ID verification but no answer yet. I was asked by the support team to upload my ID, I did but it was not processed. I also provided additional prove of identification like my State of Origin certification, birth certificate.... no response. Should I still provide my admission letter and school ID because I'm still a student. I really don't know what to do  and it's stressing me out. I have only few days left still my verification is due. Please assist me. I finally got two Jobs at same time after a long time and now this

Hello!

I could not find a way to send an email or talk to anyone from the support team at Upwork.

 

I have found a few contracts I'd like to apply to which I cannot do unless my ID is verified.

Is there a way to request for expediting it?

Hello, I got a message to complete the Identity Verification  on my account. The problem is that when I choose Egypt it shows me only two options (Passport and visa). I don't have these, and I think it should let me choose to do verification by goverment ID. Is this possible to do? Is there any solution for this to just do it with goverment ID and photo or video verification?

Last couple of days I have uploaded 3 different documents(ID, passport and driver license) more than 15 times but still didn't get approvement for identity.

 

What should I do in this case.

Hi Katongole,

 

I understand your concern. You can select 'Passport' and still proceed with uploading your government ID. Please refer to the list of acceptable documents to verify your account.

Thank you for reaching out. Here are some tips to help you successfully complete the verification process:

  • Be sure that you upload the correct file type (JPEG, PDF, or PNG)
  • Make sure that you upload a clear, color copy of your ID
  • Be sure that your ID is valid

I am facing an issue with ID Verification, I submitted my Voter ID Card/My national id card in Bangladesh, and then I submitted my photo, and everything was fine when I checked my. upwork setting I see my NID was removed, I submit again I see the same issue

 

Can you tell me what happened? On Bangladesh, i use this NID for verification for everywhere. Please help me to verify my ID

Yeah thank you for you replay, but why they removed my NID i need resubmit again ? i have voter ID on my government give me

I am facing an issue with ID Verification, I submitted my national ID and it says "It looks like your attempt to verify your ID was not successful and will need to be resubmitted."

 

My guess is this is because the full name shown on the Verification page is different than my profile full name, I changed it a while ago but it still hasn't been updated on the Verification page until now

 It's been two days and no one responded to me 

Upwork wants an ID with the full name Mohamed Mahmoud but that is my nickname, not my national ID name 

My national ID name is Mostafa Mahmoud

I wanted to verify my identity with newly government issued national digital ID but I could not find it in the list of identity verification options. I am from Ethiopia and Passport is the only option to verify one's identity. I am in queue to get a passport but I don't know exactly how long it will take. Due to this I am missing out work opportunities.

The ID contains every necessary information about me that can be used to verify my identity.

Please Help me out here.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We have several verification processes in place to make sure that the users are who they say they are and keep the marketplace safe. Please note that the documents we accept include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.

 

If you are not able to complete the verification yet, your account will be put on hold but rest assured that once you submit the required document/ID, we will restore your access.

Hi,

I had submitted a document for ID verification and it was showing as "We're reviewing your ID...."
Today it does not have that status. Neither have I received any email that my Id was approved/rejected.
I've attached screenshot of when I submitted my ID and whats showing now.

I've already uploaded my ID twice and same thing happened without any update.
Does it mean my ID is still under verification process?
