Identity Verification

Hi Team, 

 

Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -

Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?

Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?

Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

 

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria. 

 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

Hello team,

Please help in my case My Profile name is correct but when i am on document uploading page my name showing not correct and not editable please change my name on document uploading page same as showing in my profile name. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Myself Jaidev Singh. I have tried to verify my account but Upwork is constantly rejecting my request. I am not able to verify my account and it is resulting in delaying my freelancing work. It's been more than a week since I uploaded my verification document and Upwork is still showing verification pending.

hey team

I am based in India.

I am unable to verify using my government ID ( aadhar card and pan card).

I fill in the details every time and when I check it's asking me again to fill out the form.

I had to deactivate my previous account just to check if it was a problem from my side.

I am following every instruction for verification yet nothing is happening at all. Please look into this matter.

Hi Bhavisha,

 

Upon checking, it appears that there's a need for you to complete the verification by going to Settings > Identity Verification > Continue:

Just a few reminders about the document that you need to submit:
 

  • Do not edit the image in any way.
  • We must be able to clearly see the front of your ID. If the expiration date is on the back of your photo ID, then you must also send us a scan of the back of the card
  • Your name and address, and the utility company or bank address information, must be visible on the billing statement you submit.
  • All four corners of your ID/statement need to be visible in the image.
  • Images should be in color and at least 200 dpi.
  • Images should be a PNG, JPEG, PDF, or BMP file.

 
Once submitted, it will be forwarded to our verifications team for review and they will give you an update within 48 to 72 hours.

I have followed the instructions from the starting.

One thing is there that I don't know whether the image is 200 dpi resolution or not because there's no legit free tool to identify that. But I am taking the pic  in the highest resolution setting possible in my phone. 

It's just frustrating at this point of time after trying for 10 times atleast.

no one reaching me out even they only told that my document name and my profile name is mismached,,,,, i already told them even i message them but they not replying on that they only replying when i upload my Nation Identity Card that profile name and document name is mismached.... 

i am also saying that my profile name shows me correct(Naveed ur Rehman) but when i am uploading my document page there my name on that page is showing me Naveed Khan and also i am unable to edit it to remove Naveed Khan to Naveed ur Rehman..... so what i should do now you can tell me?

Hope doing Well,

First of all i am sorry that i have opened new topic but i have not any other way because my issue is still pending and no one is comming to solve this issue because we have no rights to do that.

 

My issue is i am uploading my N.I.C (National Identity Card) but on given secure link my name is not correct and i am unable to edit id as i have attached image you can find.... My profile name and my document shown name is correct but when i am going to provided unique link my name is already typed and that is incorrect and i am unable to edit it. so that's why when i am uploading my id card image then you guys got just mismatch my name. 

kindly make it seriously i have to make work with you but i am still on hold postion on this issue.

I Already mentioned that i open a ticket but no one is answering me there for this issue, that ticket is opened for my document name is mismached but how i edit name of document page because my profile name and document name is same but on document submiting page name is already filled and  that is wrong and also not edit-able.

i am so worried about that because i want work and i am in trouble about that so please help me about my issue.

Hi, there! Today I wanted to upload my documents for identity verification, however e-document of my country (I'm from Ukraine) is an unsupported type of ID for this. My document was lost due to the war circumstances, and right now I'm only using my e-document. Maybe someone had something similar?

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're facing completing the verification. I'm afraid you must have one of the supported documents to verify your profile. Please see this help article for more information about the required and accepted documents for completing the ID Verification.

Hello,
It's been 6 days, and still no updates on my Identity Verification.
I had a warning saying we're reviewing your ID.

The warning is gone and haven't received any emails about it.
Where should I contact?
I cannot create any support ticket or talk to any live agent with the support bot. It always replies the same.


I tried to ask this in the main thread, everyone else got replies from moderators except for me. I don't know why.

Hi, Joanne, 
I have the same issue, I uploaded the ID document more than 7 days ago and still getting the " Action required: Verify your identity by 11/14/2023 UTC to continue winning jobs on Upwork." message. I already submitted my ID, but when I click on the message it looks like I haven't. I think this has to be some kind of bug.

 

I'm already on a contract with a client, so I need to get my account verified as quick as I can.
