Identity Verification

Hi Team, 

 

Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -

Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?

Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?

Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

 

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria. 

 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

I think the issue might be naming strategy UAE and other GCC countries. In my Indian passport (used for ID Document verification) my name is Name + Surname but in UAE ID It's My Name + Surname + Father's name + Surname . 

would that be the issue ?

Above is a sample of the id Id I used for verification (Front only) but still getting failed any help would be appreciated.

Hi Rafid,

 

I understand your concern but the name format will not affect your ID verification. I checked your account and I see that your  ID document verification and Visual verification are already approved. We are in the process of reviewing your location verification and our team will reach you if they need further clarification. Please ensure you have uploaded a document related to your current location and it matches your address on your Upwork account.

I have been trying to get verified from yesterday and the issue is that it's declining without a proper feedback and it's so frustrating. In the mail I recived about the same and visa was listed in there as accepted document and have uploaded it. Let's see what happens

I have uploaded my NID for verification, it shows we're reviewing your ID, but after 2 days it asks to verify ID again, as for visual verification it's still under review for a while now. BTW I don't have a last name in my NID so when I reached support they asked me to provide my name in both first name and last name fields. thanks in advance.

I don't know why my id verification is not working. no matter what I do the issue persists. and without the id verification I can't even apply for any work. I need a solution to this asap.

after one day the message "We're reviewing your ID" goes away for ID Document verification. but Visual verification remained the same for 3 days now. but there is no indication whether my ID is verified or not.

Urgent help needed by upwrok support 

Hey there, My name is Muhammad Shoaib, I attached my friend's bank card to buy connects, now Upwork system is asking for verification in the name of my friend, so I want you to resolve the issue, so I could add my personal ID card and go for video verification.

My name :   Muhammad Shoaib
Friend Name: ASAD ALI

kindly resolve the issue and allow me to go for verification by own name, when i click on verification link its shows name of my friend ASAD ALI 

Even i removed that card and attached my own Bank card but yest when i try to go for ID card verification, it shows the name ASAD ALI and i cant change it.

2 times my verification has been rejected, i opened the ticket but don't got any reply

Hi all

 

I am trying to set up my profile but the system has failed to link my South African drivers license to my location. I would like to upload my passport but when selecting 'upload documents' on the verify location option - there is no option to upload the document and I can't continue. The support materials/chat bot are sending me in circles when I really just need to speak to someone.

Greetings! I'm Sovannara from Cambodia. I need to verify my identification to submit more proposals. 
But in Cambodia, I only see 1 option is to verify with Passport, and I don't have that. I only have my government-issued ID Card.
Is there another that i could request for the verification?

Hi Sovannara,

 

Please know that the acceptable forms of ID vary by country and will be listed on the form. However, I received a confirmation from the team that your government-issued ID should work as long as it meets the criteria listed in this help article.

 

You may re-upload your ID by going to Settings> Identity Verification and clicking "Get Started." Once done, It will reach the ID Verification team and have it reviewed accordingly.

I have tried to upload my national ID Card but it still does not work since there's only one option for me to upload is Passport.

I checked your account and confirmed it doesn't need further verification yet. Please remember that you cannot initiate the identity verification yourself, and it cannot be requested. If the team finds the need for you to do it, you will receive an email detailing the instructions for completing your verification.

 

Please try using a different browser or clearing your cache and cookies, then log back into your account. Let us know if you're having issues accessing Upwork pages, and we'll look further into that for you.

Thanks for quick response, but today client need from me freelancer ID card for payment but I don't know what is this, so I send Payoneer account number but he did not agree and need only freelance t ID card ,please see shown below:

You are required to provide your freelancer ID card verifying you as a freelancer so as to verify your payment. If you do not have an ID you should be ready to purchase one

I took a closer look at your profile and can't seem to find any communications you had with a client in your Messages. Also, once you’ve verified your identity, we’ll put an Identity Verified badge on your profile. The badge displays as a checkmark next to your name. This lets anyone who sees your profile know that we’ve taken steps to confirm that you are who you say you are. There's no freelancer ID being issued or sold by Upwork upon verifying your ID.

 

I would like to let you know that sharing contact information before a contract has started is against Upwork's Terms of Service and that all communications prior to the contract starting must take place on Upwork.

Client invite me to telegram channel and give me task on telegram channel, finally I want my money but he write me mail which mentioned previously mail.
