Identity Verification

Hi Team, 

 

Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -

Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?

Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?

Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

 

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria. 

 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

All my official ID's dont have last name even my bank account has no last name . Recently i changed My Upwork profile name by filling the same name on both the fields(first name and last name) could you please guide me through the further procees of verifying the ID

Hi there,

I am having trouble verifying identity in Upwork. I am new in Upwork and I am trying to verify my identity. As I am from Nepal upwork shows the option for verifing through passport only. I don't have my passport made yet but I have all the other necessary governmental evidence for verification such as National ID card, PAN card and citizenship. I am stuck in this process just because I don't have passport. How can we solve this problem? I have emailed support team but have not recieved response.

Can we provide citizenship or ID details by selecting the option of passport from the dropdown? Will it hamper the process aftermath?

When i am trying to apply/bid my proposal website is not allowing me to do.  when i try to enter my details/proposal my cursor turns to disabled icon. please help me out with this.

Hi !

I am from Nepal and have recently joined Upwork. I am having issue in identity verification process. As I do not have passport I am not being able to verify my ID through other governmental documents such as ID and Citizenship as it only shows passport in the dropdown

Hi ! I am a UX designer from Nepal and I have joined Upwork recently. During identity verification process there was no option for verification through National ID so I chosed the available option i.e. Passport and provided the document of valid National ID card of Nepal as suggested by the support agent that triggered manual verification. I also have sent verification for the photo and it showed the following info as attatched in the image. Please help me out to verify this.

Hi Team,
How do I check the status of my identity verification for image and ID? I am from Nepal and there was no option other than passport for verification. So, I have provided the details of National ID as suggested my Upwork Community member. I tried to inquire about the status through support but I am only being able to chatbot. Is there any way we can connect to actual agent?

I cannot verify my account. I have tried so many times but it’s keeps saying “ We had some trouble verifying your ID
It looks like you uploaded an unsupported type of ID.
Please try again with one of the following supported
types.
If you don't have a supported ID type, please contact support “ The ID I am using is a valid government ID that is my passport

I am a new freelancer and my account is old. I have not done the verification because I didn't need it at that time on this platform. Now the ID verification option isn't available. Can you do something about it?
