Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -
Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?
Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?
Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.
If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.
Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.
Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.
If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.
I am facing a problem in identifying my identity. I tried attaching several documents and send them via email - which are not accepted by the platform- and I hoped they facilitate the process of verifying my identity. However, my email was rejected and I fear that my account get suspended because of this.
I am also ready to join a video call for further verification.
Can anyone help me to solve this?
I understand your concern. You will need to upload the documents on the link shared in the notification. You can also upload the documents by clicking the 'Get started' button on the Settings > Identity verification page. For 5 days now,I have been trying to get verified, and it is just 3 days until my account is suspended.
I have sent my government issued digital ID, and a selfie that was supposed to be verified within 1 business day, yet, nothing to show for it.
i understand the challenges you're faced with on the issue of verfication, but it will be highly unpleasant and unfair for my account to be suspended as a result of your inadequacies. I have a running contract too, so I am really pressed about this.

I am experience some issues with Identify Verification, I uploaded the ID document a few days ago and still getting the "Action Required: Verify your identity by 11/14/2023 UTC to continue winning jobs on Upwork." message. I already submitted my ID, but when I click on the message it looks like I haven't. I think this has to be some kind of bug.
I'm already on a contract with a client, so I need to get my account verified as quick as I can.

hi joanne , I have submitted all the necessary files required but its showing reviewing from past 1 week now and im receiving emails to verify as soon as possible but i did that many times and it's still showing reviewing. what should i do ?

We are slowly rolling this option out to freelancers. When you become eligible, we’ll notify you when you log into our site. You’ll be asked to upload an official government ID and meet with us for a quick video call. Once you successfully verify your identity, a badge will be added to your Upwork profile.

I am reaching out on behalf of a close friend who has been an active Upwork freelancer for over 10 years, holding a Top Rated Plus profile. Unfortunately, he has recently encountered a significant issue. The security code sent to his phone is not being received, prompting him to explore alternative methods. Regrettably, due to a misunderstanding, he provided incorrect answers to some security questions. As a result, his account has been suspended, and a ticket has been submitted to the Trust & Safety team.
Despite this, it has been more than 5 days, and he has not received any updates. Currently engaged in a permanent job, he is unable to log hours, and this situation has left him feeling utterly helpless. I am new to upwork and from Nepal. As I have stated in the subject, upwork verification won't accept my government-issued citizenship certificate. I don't have passport and even if I apply to make a passport here in Nepal it will take a month. What can I do?

I am writing to express a serious issue I have encountered with my Upwork account. I recently attempted to change my name on my profile, but I made a mistake in the process. The new name I provided does not match my government-issued identity documents, which is why I am unable to verify it.
Despite multiple attempts, I have been unable to revert this change and return to my previous, verified name. Each time I attempt to change my name back, Upwork continues to prompt me for new name verification, which is not possible due to the mismatch with my identity documents.
