Identity Verification

Hi Team, 

 

Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -

Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?

Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?

Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

 

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria. 

 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

I'm facing the issue for id verification i have made several attempts and uploaded my id issued by government several times but still its sayings to upload it again how can i solve this issue?

Hi,
I requested to complete the identity verification, but there is no option for a national ID, only two choices: passport or visa, and I don't have either. I only possess a national identity card. Nevertheless, I chose passport and attached a picture of the national ID, which displays the address and all the required information.

 

I just want to confirm if this is correct or not. Also, the national identity card is in Arabic, but I understand that it's not an issue as you accept various languages.

Hi, My name is Gnanasankarraja. I am from India. I received my first job on Upwork. But, Upwork sent me an email, that says verify the identity. But I have only an Adhaar and a pan card. But Upwork didn't accept that.  what can I do?

Hey, today I was asked to verify my identity on upwork. It says that National Id Cards are eligible for verification, but when I tried verifying using Ethiopian Government issued National Id, it says its unsupported. Currently I don't have any other type of Ids, what can I do?

Hi Samuel,

 

I have followed up with the team handling your documents and they have confirmed that your documents were rejected due to a low-resolution or unclear image. Please try uploading a good-quality image of the front and back of the same document. You can upload the documents again from the Settings page.

The thing is there is no option to upload national Id. I have tried taking good pictures, but I couldn't find the national card Id option .

Hi Samuel,

 

You can select the most relevant ID option applicable to your national ID and proceed with uploading your ID card.

Hello. I can't verify my location. I am currently living in Thailand with a student visa, but the visa is a stamp. I sent a stamp and it did not get approved. I sent my TM30 registration form that has my name on it and it didn't get approved either. How can I confirm my location?

Hello, Pradeep.
My issue is that the country I am staying in doesn't provide any documents besides the visa, and the visa is a stamp in the passport that was declined by the Upwork team as a verification document. How can I verify my location?

I have recently become active on Upwork, however I have submitted my documents to complete my identity verification. On the platform it says it would be in 1 day but it's not done yet. It's been more than a week since I uploaded the documents.  

If you don't want to verify my identity then kindly allow me to delete my profile permanently.

After I passed the verification of my account my profile is still no longer available and I can't access it.
