Hi Team,
Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -
Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?
Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?
Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration
Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,
If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.
Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.
If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria.
Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.
Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.
If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

I am trying to verify my identity but I cannot find the option in the settings tab or I have not received the notification to do it. What is the reason of this? Do I really need this verification?

Hi Oscar Ivan,
It looks like you're not required to complete this step yet. We'll let you know when it's time to verify your identity. We'll email you and notify you when you sign in to your account if you need to verify.

Please I need to verify my account. there is no option in settings menu for ID verification , I tried to get verified in the past , and it seems that it failed , but there was no option to re-verify my ID. I need human support please!

It looks like your account doesn't need further verification yet. Please remember that you cannot initiate the identity verification yourself, and it cannot be requested. If the team finds the need for you to do it, you will receive an email detailing the instructions for completing your verification.

I am writing to seek assistance regarding my identity verification on Upwork. I recently received a notification to complete the identity verification process, but I am facing a challenge due to my National Identification Document (NID) only containing my first name and no last name.
I understand that Upwork requires both a first and last name for identity verification purposes. However, due to the nature of my NID, I am unable to provide a last name. I have attached a copy of my NID for your reference.
I would appreciate it if you could guide how I can proceed with the identity verification process despite my NID lacking a last name. I am eager to complete the verification process and continue using Upwork to connect with potential clients and grow my freelance career.

I'm sorry if you're having difficulties verifying your ID. Please know that If the system is rejecting your ID, it means the submission was denied. Kindly consider submitting other alternate Valid Government-issued ID. You can also refer to the email sent by our review team for more information about acceptable documents and best practices when submitting your ID for approval.
Once you are ready to resubmit, access your Upwork account Settings and click the Identity Verification tab to continue. Please check this help article for more information.

On my profile it is showing Malik Iqbal
I change my name to Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal Jalil as per my ID card but in ID verification popup it is showing as Malik Iqbal.

Hello, I am new to Upwork and have a struggle with finding Identity Verification in Settings, I mean it is not there. I tried to contact support but AI is talking to me and either sending me links or some unuseful information. Is it because their working times are over or because I am not verified so I am not eligible to human conversation? 🙂

I hope this message finds you well. I recently received a request to verify my identity using a passport. However, I currently do not possess a passport. I do have a government-issued National ID that I would like to use for the verification process.
The National ID I possess contains all the necessary information to confirm my identity, and I believe it meets the criteria required for identity verification purposes. I kindly request your assistance in allowing me to verify my identity using this document.
I understand the importance of identity verification for security purposes on the platform and assure you that my National ID is a legitimate and valid government-issued identification document.

I keep getting this message whenever i try to verify my ID :
It looks like you uploaded an unsupported type of ID. Please try again with one of the following supported types.
If you don't have a supported ID type, please contact us .
The contact us button is useleess. I have tried different photos of my passport but it doesn't help.
What can I do? Is there any support email address I can really get help?
