Identity Verification

Hey. After getting my first job, I can't apply for any job! The "Apply now" button is disabled. I have 28 connects.
Also my public profile saying: "Profile no longer available".

Hi all,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

In addition, if you are having trouble completing the verification process, please ensure that your mobile browser is in mobile view to proceed smoothly with the verification. Also, please ensure that you allow us to access your camera by turning the permission on. For your guidance, please see the details below:
 

For Google Chrome

  • On the left of your address bar, tap Camera or Microphone. These icons only appear if you previously changed your camera and microphone permissions for the site. Turn Permissions on or off.

For Safari

  • Go to Settings on your device. Scroll down and open the Safari tab. Ensure Camera & Microphone are set to Allow.

 

Tips to capture an image:

  • Take the photo of the ID from above, with the ID lying on a flat, dark surface
  • Don’t cover up any part of the ID or your face
  • Leave margins on all sides of the image
  • Don’t use a flash

Hi everyone!
I really want to verify my identity now, but my rear camera is broken.
Can I upload an image file of my government-issued ID as a substitute?

I recently received an email confirming that my identification documents have been reviewed and accepted:


Hello, Ahsan
Congratulations! Your identification has been reviewed and accepted.
Thanks for helping us maintain a trusted workplace for all. This portion of your account review is now complete.


However, despite this confirmation, my profile still displays the following message:


Some of your services are temporarily on hold. We would love to get you up and running again on Upwork. But first, we need you to take a few minutes to verify your identity.


Additionally, when I attempt to purchase Connects, I receive the following error:


Unfortunately, we were unable to process your transaction. Your account is being reviewed. We may need to verify your identity information. Please check your email for the detailed next steps.


I kindly request your assistance in resolving this issue, as I have already completed the required identity verification and would like to ensure my account is fully active without any holds.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your prompt response.

Hello,

I am trying to verify my Upwork account, but I am encountering an issue with the QR code verification. I have attempted to scan the QR code using both my tablet and phone, but I keep getting the same message asking me to scan the code again. Even after allowing camera access on my devices, it still prompts me to scan the QR code without proceeding.

 

I have followed all recommended troubleshooting steps, including using a QR code scanner app and adjusting camera permissions, but the issue persists. I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter, as I am unable to complete the verification process.

Hello Saba,

 

I am sorry to learn that you are encountering an issue when trying to verify your ID. If you are seeing the same page as the one on your desktop, it's because of the settings of the mobile browser. I recommend that you set it to mobile view. If the issue persists even after doing so, kindly contact our customer support team through this page with a video clip replicating the issue.

Have any other freelancers recently been requested by Upwork to verify their identity and change their profile photo? I have gotten three emails today from Upwork saying my account will be shut down if I don't do both of the aforementioned things and I have been an Upwork freelancer for over 8 years now and have never had received a request like this before. My profile photo already meets all the standards and when I went to verify my identity, instead of chatting with someone from Upwork like they said I had to do, they want me to upload my driver's license, which I will not do for security reasons. If anyone can please advise, I would appreciate this greatly. Thank you.

The team requires that users submit a clear profile photo. It should be a close-up image of their head and shoulders, clearly showing their faces. It should also look professional. That doesn't mean you need to get headshots taken in a studio. It just should be the sort of picture you'd use for a passport or other ID. Hi Joanne - one last question, now that I have been successfully verified
on Upwork, is there any way to verify my LinkedIn profile going through
Upwork? When I try to verify my LinkedIn profile, they are asking me to do
so through Upwork since that is listed as my most recent work experience on
my profile there, but they want me to give them an Upwork email address to
verify, but freelancers do not have those, but is there any way for you or
someone at Upwork to do this with your Upwork email address if I give that?

Hello Upwork Community,

I’m experiencing an issue when I try to apply for jobs or place bids. I keep receiving the following error message:

"This feature is not available because your client is suspended."

I'm unsure why this is happening, I have checked my account, and everything seems to be in order on my end. Could this be related to a technical issue or some other underlying problem?

how to resolve it?

I’m receiving a "Your client is suspended" error every time I try to apply for jobs on your platform. This issue is happening across multiple listings, and I haven't been informed of any account issues.

Could you please assist me in resolving this so I can continue applying?

I checked your account and saw you've been requested to complete the ID verification process. Please log into your account and kindly click the option to get started. Once you complete the verification process and pass, the limitation on your account will be lifted.

There is no need to take further action from your end. I can confirm that our team is manually reviewing your account. Please allow 1-3 days while they complete their review. If they need more information, they’ll be sure to contact you directly.

I raised an issue regarding my photo verification failing everytime last week and there was a support ticket created to support my issue (49860418). I followed that but still I am getting error that my visual verification has failed.
What is the issue with your verification system ? I am fed up of clicking and uploading photos and everytime they are getting rejected.

Issue with Identity verification process. Error: "We didn't receive your information yet".
