Identity Verification

Hey. After getting my first job, I can't apply for any job! The "Apply now" button is disabled. I have 28 connects.
Also my public profile saying: "Profile no longer available".

Hi all,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

In addition, if you are having trouble completing the verification process, please ensure that your mobile browser is in mobile view to proceed smoothly with the verification. Also, please ensure that you allow us to access your camera by turning the permission on. For your guidance, please see the details below:
 

For Google Chrome

  • On the left of your address bar, tap Camera or Microphone. These icons only appear if you previously changed your camera and microphone permissions for the site. Turn Permissions on or off.

For Safari

  • Go to Settings on your device. Scroll down and open the Safari tab. Ensure Camera & Microphone are set to Allow.

 

Tips to capture an image:

  • Take the photo of the ID from above, with the ID lying on a flat, dark surface
  • Don’t cover up any part of the ID or your face
  • Leave margins on all sides of the image
  • Don’t use a flash

I checked your account and I see here that you already have an ongoing support ticket with the assigned team. Thank you for your message. I checked and see you are required to complete a verification process. You can visit your Identity Verification settings page and follow the steps provided. Once completed, your account will be resumed, and your profile will become available within 24 hours. If the issue persists, let us know so we can help you further.

Hi, I am trying to verify my identity, however, the website is stuck at the screen showing how to continue using mobile, with a QR code or SMS.

I tried both methods, but my mobile web browser keeps landing at the same page again as above, showing 2 methods to continue, either QR or SMS.

I tried one more time from the mobile, using SMS, but again, the link sent to me directs me to the same page to verify.

How can I complete my identity verification ?

Hi Marko,

 

Thank you for your message. I checked and see that your account doesn't need be verified at the moment which is why the Identity Verification option settings in your account is currently not visible.

 

Kindly note that the verification cannot be requested but slowly being rolled out to users in Upwork. Once it’s required for you, you will receive a notification in your account and via email with complete information and instructions to complete the Identity Verification process.

Hi, Rona.

Thank you for your prompt response and explanation regarding the verification status of my account. I appreciate the information regarding the rollout process for identity verification. However, I would like to see it expedited. I read the forum posts and it says that the proposals is closed when the identity verification alarm comes. I have consumed almost 300+ connections on the bid and I think it is all gone so I would like to get the identity verification done quickly.

Thank you for your message. It looks like your profile is showing not available due to your pending ID Verification requirements. You can complete the ID Verification process through this page. You may want to use a mobile device to complete the verification process. Feel free to check this help article for more information.

I am trying to complete Identity verification but it is not working with my phone, I repeatedly see a blank page.

Is there any other way I can complete the process?

Hi Robin,

 

When you’re asked to verify your identity, you’ll need to start the process on your computer and complete the process on a mobile device with a working camera. Learn more about identity verification here. Please refer to the troubleshooting steps shared in this help article. If the issue persists, please let us know.

Hello, 

I'm trying to do the ID verification but every time I take a photo of my ID, it just says "invalid document". 

I have "Driver's License" selected and that is what I'm taking a photo of (clear, fully visible, no flash), but I'm getting hit with that same message repeatedly. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I have a problem with my identity verify. I uploades all the photos the system asked, but after that it was written "We've started a manual review" and I don't know how long it takes and I can't apply for any job. Can you help me please?

If your device does not have a camera or is not allowed, you can use any computer with a webcam (a friend’s, library, internet cafe, etc.). The device you use does not have to be yours.

Hi AndreaG!
I have two accounts. My first and my second account (which is accidentally created due to unknown reason). I use the second account on finding remotes jobs but no luck. One day, while browsing my other email, I saw a notification from Upwork. So I tried to check if that email was used to create an account on Upwork. The said email was used and it was 2017. I already closed my second account. Do I have a chance to get verified using my first account?

Hello Brian,

 

The team will let you know if there is a need for any verification in the future. Please know that verification cannot be requested but is slowly being rolled out to Upwork users. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email or a notification in your account with more information on how to complete the verification process.
