Identity Verification

Hey. After getting my first job, I can't apply for any job! The "Apply now" button is disabled. I have 28 connects.
Also my public profile saying: "Profile no longer available".

Hi all,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

In addition, if you are having trouble completing the verification process, please ensure that your mobile browser is in mobile view to proceed smoothly with the verification. Also, please ensure that you allow us to access your camera by turning the permission on. For your guidance, please see the details below:
 

For Google Chrome

  • On the left of your address bar, tap Camera or Microphone. These icons only appear if you previously changed your camera and microphone permissions for the site. Turn Permissions on or off.

For Safari

  • Go to Settings on your device. Scroll down and open the Safari tab. Ensure Camera & Microphone are set to Allow.

 

Tips to capture an image:

  • Take the photo of the ID from above, with the ID lying on a flat, dark surface
  • Don’t cover up any part of the ID or your face
  • Leave margins on all sides of the image
  • Don’t use a flash

It seems I am not able to submit Bids on proposals. I was wondering what I'm doing wrong?

Hi Brian, 

 

This is Ronna, stepping in for Ivy. I checked and see that your account is active and has no limitation to prevent you from submitting proposals. Could you please try in incognito mode and/or another browser? Additionally, you could try clearing your cache and cookies. If the issue persists, please share with us a screenshot of the error or issue you are getting so I can check it further.

Dear Andrea, 

I followed all of the instructions that you mentioned. 

Now, It appears {Action required: Verify your identity to continue winning jobs on Upwork. Get started.} (which I finished, I took my ID photo and my photo, then submitted) 

and {After review, we have determined that your profile photo does not meet Upwork requirements. Update your photo}. (I also changed my profile picture) . I also turn the camera+ micro permission on this website.

So now, do I need to wait for the website to submit or what? Because I can't apply for jobs now.

Hi Trinh,

 

I recommend that you please check out the help article shared with you so that you can be guided on choosing a good profile photo. Here's the help article again for your reference. It should be a close-up image of your head and shoulders, clearly showing your face. It should also look professional. That doesn't mean you need to get headshots taken in a studio. It just should be the sort of picture you'd use for a passport or other ID.

Hi, 

I cant even get to this point because the process keeps looping. I posted about it here but I have not gotten a response. Can you assist me with this? I just need to be able to get past the ID scan part and then the other steps I imagine will be easy.

I am looking to hire someone today for a project. The faster we can clear this up the better. I have my ID but the system is not allowing me to add it. Either the page breaks after log in or im looped right back to sending the code to the phone. 

 

Please help.

Hi Luigi. I submitted my passport ID for verification but it has not yet been verified. Upwork told me to contact support if the ID has not been verified for more than 48 hours but there is no way to contact support other than the chatbot. What do I do?

Hi,

 

I am selecting verify account from Settings page. Then I click "Start verification" button. A page opens constains two option one of them QR code other one is SMS. I am selecting SMS button then I receive the SMS successfully. 

 

My problem starts at this step, whenever click the link in the SMS browser goes to QR page again with two options. I am facing a loop without verify account.

 

Could you please help me to solve this issue or pay back my money which I have bought for connection.

Subject: Identity Verification Pending Despite Completion

Hi,

I completed the identity verification steps on 8th September. However, even after four days, I still see the message on my dashboard:

"Action required: Verify your identity to continue winning jobs on Upwork."

Could you please assist in resolving this issue, as I would like to ensure my account is fully verified and ready to continue applying for jobs?

Hello Ronna, I have the same problem. So.. Should I keep trying? Since I've done the process more than 3 times and nothing happens. I haven't received any email from up work and the 1st step of verification hasn't been completed, Now my profile has been suspended to apply But I don't know what else to do. Please resolve my issue !!

I am not able to submit proposals as it says "you can't submit a proposal because your account is suspended.".

Hello, I have this problem, I cannot send any proposal, since automatically when I want to send I get this message, indicating that my account is suspended. I would like help to solve it please, my account has already been verified but I still cannot send proposals!

Thank you for sharing your concern about the limitation on your account. I checked and see that if you are experiencing this error, this means you are required to complete a verification process. You can visit your Identity Verification settings page and follow the steps provided. Once completed, your account will be resumed, and your profile will become available within 24 hours. If the issue persists, let us know so we can help you further.
