Locked Private Profile

Hi Team,

Please help me. My profile has been locked and private and dont know how and now i cant make it public.

Hi all,

 

If you are a new freelancer and don't earn money on Upwork within 90 days of your first proposal, or you choose not to submit a proposal within your first 90 days, your profile will change to private. 

 

When your profile is set to private it is not shown in freelancer search results but rest assured, clients are still able to see your profile when you submit proposals!

 

You can switch it back to public by simply logging out and back into your Upwork account again. Note: Your profile will be automatically reset to the visibility option you had. (The options are public, only to other Upwork users, or private.)

Hello all,

I’m encountering an issue with my Upwork profile that I hope to get some advice on. My account was created in 2022, but I've only recently started actively working on upwork for the past month. Despite my profile being set to public, it keeps switching back to private automatically.

 

I’ve received the Rising Talent badge, but this profile visibility issue is impacting my ability to connect with potential clients. If anyone else has experienced a similar problem or has any tips on how to resolve this, I would greatly appreciate your insights!

Thank you for sharing your concern. I'd like to let you know that you can update your profile visibility to public by following these steps:

 

  1. Select Profile > Profile Settings
  2. Choose a visibility option from the dropdown menu

Thanks for your response. When I set my profile to public, it keeps changing back to private when I refresh the browser.

Thank you for following up. I am stepping in for Ronna. Could you please confirm whether you’re updating your profile visibility under your Agency account? I checked, and it seems you’re an exclusive Agency member. To update your profile visibility, just head over to your Agency Roster page from the "Find Work" tab in your Agency account. You can also click here to switch your profile to public. If you run into any issues, don’t hesitate to let us know. A screenshot of the problem would be super helpful.

Hello, 

I can't change my profile from private to public. I created this profile in 2016, but I haven't used it. Now, I'm using this profile as part of an agency, but it won't change to public even if I log out and log in again. I have also sent proposals, etc.

Hi there,

 

I suppose it's a quite common issue, but my Upwork profile is stuck on Private mode, and I cannot switch it to public.

 

I've tried logging in and out, and also I send proposals, but still can't bring it public. Can you help me? Thanks!

Hi Alona, I am really sorry to hear about that. If you’ve been active and it's still not changing, contacting Upwork Support through the Help Center might be the best course of action. They can manually adjust your profile's visibility.

Thank you for reaching out to us. I checked, and it looks like you are an exclusive member of an agency. To change your profile visibility, you need to reach out to your agency owner and ask them to change it from their side. You may share this help article with them to use it as a guide.

If you can't change your profile visibility through the provided page, you might want to reach out to Upwork Support directly and request them to switch your profile back to publicBy taking any of these steps, you should be able to restore your profile's visibility and continue getting client opportunities.

 

 

If your Upwork profile status is locked to private, it usually means that your account hasn't had activity (such as earnings or new proposals) for a while, and Upwork automatically sets profiles to private to limit visibility in searches. Here’s what you can do to resolve this:

You should be able to update your profile visibility yourself by visiting your Profile Settings page and clicking the "Visibility" drop-down. If you are having trouble with this, could you please share a screenshot of what you see on your end when you try it? We'll gladly assist you further.

I had prolem with my paypal account so I resorted to using IntaSend money transfer using the link https://payment.intasend.com/invite/af55e4/ I just want to recommend my fellow freelancers who have problems with paypal to try this.
