Locked Private Profile

Hi Team,

Please help me. My profile has been locked and private and dont know how and now i cant make it public.

Hi all,

 

If you are a new freelancer and don't earn money on Upwork within 90 days of your first proposal, or you choose not to submit a proposal within your first 90 days, your profile will change to private. 

 

When your profile is set to private it is not shown in freelancer search results but rest assured, clients are still able to see your profile when you submit proposals!

 

You can switch it back to public by simply logging out and back into your Upwork account again. Note: Your profile will be automatically reset to the visibility option you had. (The options are public, only to other Upwork users, or private.)

Hi Abdul,

 

I checked and can confirm that your profile is set to public. Please try checking again after your clear your cache and cookies or using a different browser.

I attempted to view my profile by opening the link on different devices, but it displayed the message: 'This freelancer's profile is only available to Upwork customers. Please log in or sign up to view their profile.'

Could you clarify why my profile is not yet visible to the public?

I checked your profile and it appears that your profile visibility is set to private. To change your profile visibility, please contact your agency owner.

I just got back to Upwork to make some money a day ago. I set my profile from private to public and also paid 14 connects for the availability badge. Today, I received a notification saying that my account has been set to private due to inactivity, and the availability badge disappeared, even though I’ve been active on Upwork all day. Now, I’ve changed my profile from private to public again, but for the availability badge, it’s asking for another 14 connects. It hasn’t even been a week yet.

If you haven’t been active and earning for a while, we may change your profile from public to private. This helps boost your visibility when you’re active and reduces the notifications you get when you’re not. It also helps keep results relevant for clients. please know that your profile visibility has been reset. You may log into your account to check. For more information, please check this help article

Thank you for sharing your concern. You can update your profile visibility by following these steps:

 

  1. Select Profile > Profile Settings
  2. Choose a visibility option from the dropdown menu

I received an email today stating that my profile was changed to "private" because I have "not been working through Upwork lately". I have made it Public again, but this is both troubling and concerning given that I only just yesterday applied on two job postings:

  1. Why would my profile be changed under such circumstance?
  2. How would that impact the posters experience while potentially interacting with my bid?

Thank you for sharing your concern. I'd like to clarify that if you haven’t been active and earning for a while, we may change your profile from public to private. This helps boost your visibility when you’re active and reduce the notifications you get when you’re not. It also helps keep results relevant for clients. We’ll change your freelance profile from public to private if:

  • You’re an established freelancer and don’t earn money on Upwork for two years or more
  • You’re a new freelancer and don't earn money on Upwork within 90 days of your first proposal, or you don’t submit a proposal within your first 90 days

If your profile visibility is private, your profile won’t appear in search results when clients search for talent, but they’ll still see your profile if you submit a proposal or share your profile link with them.

Hello. I keep reactivating my profile by logging out and then back in and my profile keeps getting switched back to private. I have received 3 e-mails today telling me that my profile was private. This is a technical issue since this has not happened to me 3 times in one day before. I tried the chat bot and it repeats the same information and does not allow me to open a technical ticket. Can one of the moderators please assist me with opening a support ticket? Thank you for your help.

You can make your profile public by following these steps :

- Click your profile avatar (Right-top for PC and Left-top for Mobile)

- Go to "Account Settings"

- Select "Profile Settings" under "User Settings" section

- Change the Visibility to Public in the dropdown options
