Locked email address

Hi, I recently created an Upwork profile, but didn't remember that I'd already created one years ago. I found my old profile & I'm working to repurpose it, but I want to update it with my work email address. However, that is the email address I used to start the new profile. I deleted the new profile but when I try to add the work email address to the old account, it says the email address is being used by another account. Can't seem to speak to a human in chat supoort. Don't know what to do. Here's the breakdown:

 

New (deleted) Account:

  • Is using new work email
  • Can't use phone number because it's connected to the old account

Old Account (to be used):

  • Is using personal email, needs to be switched to work email, but shows it's being used by another account
  • Phone number is linked to this account

 

Any ideas?
