New messages (red number on tab) is often wrong

This is a minor issue, but it still would be great if it would be fixed cause now I don't know whether to go to the tap or not.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Have you tried filtering your unread messages only? That should help you clear any new messages you've received that you haven't checked. Let us know if that helps or if you need further assistance.
