No Option to Flag Job Offer as Scam. BEWARE of **Edited** Facebook Ad Job Offer

I need to report a client that is scamming people on Upwork. They have multiple profiles under the names **Edited for Community Guidelines**etc. Their Facebook page is **Edited for Community Guidelines** and their website is**Edited for Community Guidelines**There is a reddit thread about it as well located here: **Edited for Community Guidelines**

They will send you a job offer to run Facebook Ad Campaigns with no details and eventually try to get you to download malicious software sent to you via "WeTransfer" .

They sent me screenshots of consultants supposedly working with them (see attached)

Hi Sonia,

I'm very sorry to learn about your experience. I checked the job you were referring to, and it has already been taken down because it was in violation of our Terms of Service.

In the future, if you receive a direct offer and you'd like to flag something for the team to review, you can hover your mouse over the message you'd want to flag, and you should see three dots "(...)", if you click them, the "Report message" option should appear. You can check this help article for more information. In addition, don't hesitate to check out this page for tips on staying safe on Upwork.

They're now circling as **Edited for Community Guidelines**. I got one today for the same thing! Disappointed to hear is scam. Seems legit.

I also received the same offer, but I wasn't able to review the complete client details and accept the offer. Later, when she shared the file, the file icon was a PowerPoint (ppt) file. I opened the file, and it launched the command prompt, which is when I realized it was a scam. I terminated the contract but couldn't report it as fraud.

Hello Prahalad K,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have escalated the flagged user to the relevant team for further investigation.

What did you do after that? Like did you loose anything related to password or credentials, or anything? Because I have made same mistake, opened the file and a command prompt file flashed.

Recently I also got the same offer from the same name. Kindly look into this. Thanks

Just received this offer myself. I declined it and reported the user Upwork, alhough I was unable to detect a "flag as inpapporpriate" link, seeing as the offer was made directly and does not relate to a specific job posting.

I did a check on Google, and although the social media page is not listed as a scam, their website is.

Hi Mauro,

Please know that clients can send direct offers without posting any job on the platform because they have the option to search through talents to see who is the best fit for the job they need to complete.

However, if you feel like it is a scam, if you can't find the option to flag the client, you can definitely report it to Upwork so we can initiate an investigation. Please feel free to check this article for more information - Report Suspicious User Activity

I hope this helps.

Thanks Kristina,

I did  indeed report the user, and they appear to have been kicked off the platform. However, I was only made aware of the scam because I did a Google search on the company name and it directed me to this thread (even though the details have been obscured).

The sole purpose of my comment was to make people aware, and to encourage other freelancers to take care.

I've had two offers now from people with different names starting with MS, both asking for Facebook ads. **Edited for Community Guidelines** and **Edited for Community Guidelines** They didn't answer any of my initial questions and just asked "have you run Facebook ads yet? I want to advertise fashion in UK." They provided links to their website for **Edited for Community Guidelines** and their FB page.

I have received the job offer from 2 different accounts. I got an idea that there is something fishy because the people who have a marketing budget of $20K rarely hire freelancers, they prefer to hire some professional agency.

It's on upwork to look at this matter and try to stop this  I attaching the file he sent to everyone.

I've been receiving these offers lately, it's so obvious they are scammers. Always the same rate, no description of the job, I'm not even in the same industry, and they always end up asking and insisting on my email info, even after I ask how the payment will go through they always avoid answering.

The problem is I can't find a way to report the clients, since there is no job posting to report.

Hi Mileva,

Thanks for reaching out. When you receive direct offers, you should receive a message through the message center. You can click on the menu option of one of their messages and report the message. You can include more details to your report so our team can further review the account you want to report.

Hello, I had 4 offers  to run Facebook ads campaigns in 2 days. No job offer, they started the contract immediately. One of the client sent me a compressed file in which there was a virus. Fortunately, my anti-virus is up to date. I reported all conversations.
