Phone Number is already in use

I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

None of the AI chat or forum articles can help with my request. I keep finding you will get asked to put in a help ticket but I can't find that and the chat bot doesn't offer it. I am desperate to find where else my phone number is tied to, I deleted it from all profiles and don't know if I have another profile somewhere? Help!!

I lost access to my old account - I'd like to start freelancing again and tried to make a new account but my phone number is registered to the old one.  I recently found out that starting a new account is seen as having multiple accounts, too - which is not allowed.  I can't seem to find a way to reach a real person at Upwork to help me solve this.  I  just need one working account that I have access to - is it just impossible or can someone here help?

Hello, 
I am dealing with an error in my phone number. It keeps telling me that the number is already in use. There is no way to resolve this on my end and finding a way to talk to an actual human being that works for upwork has been a horrible process. This is my final death throw at trying to still use this platform. Can a support member please reachout to me **Edited for Community Guidelines** to assist me with this bug. Thank you.

I am unable to add my phone number to my account because it says it's being used by another account. I have tried all emails I have to figure out if there is another account under my name but was unable to come up with anything.

 

Is there a way to find out what email the other account using my phone number is or override the issue?

When I go to post a job it asks for my phone number and when I enter it**Edited for community guidelines**I get a message back saying that number is in use by another party and I can't find a way to fix this.

Luiggi,

I have a similar issue. I created a talent account awhile back. Now I'm wokring with a company who wants to utilize Upwork to find talent. I am trying to post a job and need to verify my account with my phone number. Because I only have one phone number, it is already linked to my talent account. Is there a way around this?

I have a client account and an agency account. I want to apply for a job, and I have to verify my phone number, but it doesn't connect to my phone, so I'm stalled. How to synch these? Happy to pay someonoe to troubleshoot this for me. Thanks!

Firstly, I'm not a fan of platforms that make you post on a forum for a simple fix. especially when the existing posts on the same problem do nothing to address the issue other than say stuff like 'We've escalated your issue; here's your ticket'.

Anyway, for some reason, I'm getting the 'Phone number already in use. Please, check it and try again. If you're still having problems, please contact support.' message. Of course, I've "contacted support", which is a roundabout way of sending you here.

So, how can I verify my mobile number? I need to apply for a job. I have a current Client account and another Client account, which I deactivated before this one.
