I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

Hello! I have lost access to my previous Upwork account and as such can't apply to postings because my phone number is associated with the previous account.

Hi, I can't get past the AI chatbot or find anywhere to raise a ticket or contact support after going on circles for nearly an hour. This feels like my last hope! As I mentioned previously, the phone number I used to verify this account is my wife's.
I need help to re-claim my mobile number from another account.
Can I work directly with someone in support? I can provide my mobile number. You will see that it is associated with some other account that I cannot access.
Your chat bot is very very effective at deflecting inquiries. There is no way to progress and talk to someone who can help. Referring me to this article is not helpful, all this article does is point me back to support. But I cannot contact support.
How do we proceed?

I previously had another account as a client where I used the same mobile phone number, but that was closed some time ago. I've now set up a freelancer account with the same number and I keep getting an error message that says my phone number is used by another account, even though the previous one is closed.
