I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

Good Morning,
When trying to create my profile, when I input my phone number it is saying it is being used already however, I have not create an account prior to this? This is preventing me from finishing my profile, how can I fix this?

I'm very confused... I had an Upwork account in the past as a freelancer, but did not apply to anything so, I put it on hold. When trying to sign in again now (about 3ish years later), I'm being prompted to create a profile. I was happy to update it, but it won't let me put in my phone number and says it's already in use. However, every time I log in with my existing info, I'm still prompted to immediately set up an account as if I were new. Any suggestions?

My phone number is still not verified. I went to the support page and help center with no success. It says to contact but how am I supposed to do that? I want to speak to someone directly either via email or phone call. It is confusing going to different places throughout the website to fix a simple issue.

On Upwork home page you can click the ? in the top right corner. This open help page and then in the bottom right corner you will have "Get Support". When you click on Get support the Chatbot pop up and here you can click on Get additional support. I think this can help you..

I've had so many issues verifying my phone number as it says it's connected to another account. I messaged support last week and they haven't been back in touch. Now when I try and apply for a job, when I click the button to receive a code via SMS, I get an error message saying I've tried to change the pin too many times and I don't receive a code. I've cleared cache and cookies and I'm still having the same issues. It's so frustrating- I've now been unable to apply for projects that interest me for over a week.
