I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

Hello, I don't recall ever opening an account on here, but my phone number is apparently already in use. I could have opened an account several years ago, but it would probably be closed by now. Is there any way to get the old account linked to my phone number deleted completely so that I can use my phone number?

I'm the very last step of account creation y'all ask for phone number. Somehow mine is currently being used but I have no email showing I signed up before. I'm also not able to log in with any of my regular emails to remove the number. I don't have an active account from what I can see and I need to use my phone number. Can someone help me?

I am trying to set up my Freelancer account. I landed on the page where I entered my basic information, including my phone number. For whatever reason, an error prompt was generated, saying that the "the phone number is being used by another account."
But I don't think I set up a previous account checking my records.
Can you please assist? Let me know what other information you need to proceed.

I am trying to apply to a job and when I go to enter my phone number, to verify it, it says "Phone number already in use. Please, check it and try again. If you're still having problems, please contact support." This is my ONLY phone number and the one already linked to my profile.
Can someone please help? I need this to be resolved quickly so that I can apply for the jobs I'm interested in and start using Upwork.

I am new to Upwork though I made a profile about a year ago..
I am so disappointed so far by the customer/technical support here, it makes me want to find a different platform.
I have been trying to submit a technical support ticket for over half an hour, because when trying to verify my phone number it says it is already in use, and without verification, I can't submit to any jobs. I keep being directed to a chatbot, which told me it would create a ticket for me, then just restarted with its help questions and didn't help at all.
I just want to be able to use my account. That's all.
Really crossing my fingers that I can get actual human support, because these chatbots just aren't it, man. It shouldn't be this hard.

I can't apply to jobs and feels like I'm in a helpless loop. I get to this page and receive "You attempted to change your phone number too many times. Please contact support." I did have another account with this number and my university email that I can no longer access since graduating. Any help helps ๐
