Phone Number is already in use

I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

I'm trying to complete SMS 2FA to post a job listing. But it says my phone number is already in-use with another account. I don't have access to my previous accounts because they were for past jobs.

 

Things I've tried:

  • using a different browser (in incognito, with extensions disabled)
  • logging in and setting up 2FA through the account settings (the text is never sent)
  • the "Get Support" live chat just repeats the same silly message over and over again
  • there's no button to create a support ticket on https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/requests

Could I get a customer support rep to contact me directly? Thanks!

I have been locked out of using my current phone number. 

 

I have been trying to apply for contracts but my phone number is not verified at the moment. When I try to verify my phone number I get the response that this number is being used for another account but I have not created another account in the past. 

 

Do you have any ideas on how I could fix this?

When I apply for a job, I'm prompted to select the "text me" button to verify its me. My number, which is correct, is autofilled. When I proceed, I get this message: Phone number already in use. Please, check it and try again. If you're still having problems, please contact support.

So yes , the phone number is already in use BY ME!! Help!

Hello! I've been through this process once already and was told the issue was fixed, but I went back into my account and tried to apply for a job and it said that my phone number was already in use. I desperately need work so this is urgent.
