Phone Number is already in use

I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

I recently opened an account, and the final step before I can look for freelancer jobs is verifying the phone number. Every time I try to verify it says phone number in use. I need to speak with someone  about this issue, there is no work around making my account useless to have. 

 

 

I can see your freelancer account is active & running? are you trying to create a new client account with same credentials? Remember that you can create a client account directly through your freelancer account keeping the same logins for both.

Hi , I have issues with my phone number and I was trying to submit a support ticket through the chatbot for hours and it is not showing how I can do it and it is not submitting it itself. I have an issue with my phone number it is showing that the phone number is in use by another account but I didn't use my phone number for another account and it is my first time signing up for upwork , please assist

It is saying that my phone number is already in use. I assume by an account that I had some time ago. I tried to open a ticket but the chatbot in place was beyond worthless. Can someone from Upwork create a ticket and resolve this issue?

I am also having this problem. I am trying to use my account, but I cannot do any jobs because my phone number is taken. I have no other Upwork accounts, so I don't know why I am having this issue. Yes, I have made multiple attempts and checked my number 1000 times to make sure it was correct.

Hi there, I've looked into other requests about similar trouble and it sounds like opening up a private ticket is the way to go. I have an old Upwork account (using the email**Edited for Community Guidelines**) which I no longer have access to, and is using my current phone number. Can I either switch my number over to my new account, or update the email on my old/inactive account?

When I apply for a new job I keep getting an error when trying to verify my phone number. How can I correct this? 

Before applying for the job, ensure that you verify your contact details. Provide accurate information and be prepared for a verification video call. Once completed, your profile, currently marked as private, will become public, allowing you to apply for the job.

I created a profile recently and didn't realize I'd had one from years ago. The email I used on that old account is not longer active and I can't access it. It also requires google sign in so I can't access the profile to delete it. My problem is that I now can't verify my phone number. I've been going in circles trying to get in touch with someone because the bot can't help and the link for creating a ticket led to a dead end.

I am having the same issue.
When I go to apply for jobs, I get prompted to type in my cell phone number. When I do, the screen prompts annd says;
"Phone number already in use. Please, check it and try again. If you're still having problems, please contact support"

Please submit a support ticket for me when you can. I really would like to apply for jobs. Have an awesome day.

I have the same problem. I'm on the fifth technician with online support and I still can't validate my cell number.

There is no way to create a direct ticket also.

The chatbot doesn't help in connecting to live agent.
