Phone Number is already in use

I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

Hi, I can't finish creating an Upwork freelancer account because it keeps saying my phone number is already in use. However, I don't have a previous account. I tried the automated support, but it was not helpful. Thanks!

I would like to post a new job but am unable to because it says I have to verify my phone number. The same phone number for my business and account that is/and has been listed is the number I am entering, yet nothing happens to "verify" my phone number?? No texts comes through, just gets stuck on the captcha page trying to verify buses and birds. Would really like to post this job, any help would be appreciated. Thank you and Happy New Year!

I have tried making new accounts, but I can't because it says I have an account with my phone number still in use. I need help closing the duplicate accounts so I can use my phone number for the account I want. 

You cannot create new accounts anytime you want. Only one allowed. Restore original one and ask to remove all other bots.

Hello,

I'm having issues with my phone number, where I try to verify it but it keeps saying phone number in use. I don't have any other account that I know of. I have tried getting help through the bot but I can't seem to reach support team. Is there any way to contact support directly?

I checked and confirmed that your phone number doesn't need further verification. If the team finds the need for you to do it, you will receive an email detailing the instructions for completing your verification.

Hey UpWork, my phone number is apparently in use so I'm unable to start work because I can't verify it for my account. I tried to submit a ticket- no luck. I emailed Customer Support- also no luck.

 

Would someone be able to help me??

I don't quite grasp what you mean. Is your phone number still being used by you, used by someone else, or is it no longer in use by you?

I'm having the same issue.  My cell phone must be associated to a very old account I used to have at an old job.  No way to login to that.  Not sure how to disassociate my number from the old account so I can use it with the new account.

I just created an Upwork account. My profile is nearly complete, but I am unable to add my cell phone number to my account - the error message states my cell phone number is associated with another account.
