I am having a similar issue. I am setting up a personal freelancer account and I need a phone number to proceed with the final step but my phone number is also being used for a client account which I need. Could someone advise please.

I set up my Upwork account and applied for a job but when I get to the verify my phone number page it fails. There is a message saying, "Phone number already in use. Please, check it and try again. If you're still having problems, please contact support". I haven't seen anywhere I can contact support except here. I beleive the problem is that at some point in time in the past I had an Upwork account with another email. Problem is I can't find it so I have not idea how to fix the problem. Can someone please guide me on how to resolve the issue? I appreciate any help.

Still no help from support on how to clear this up. Can anyone in the community help me?
If not, I'm giving up on using Upwork! I will also tell other freelancers not to waste their time on Upwork.

The issue was never resolved. If it was, I would not have this issue of trying to find work and getting my phone number verified. It's frustrating! The solution should be simple. Give a user access to reset their account or create a new one.
The ticket was closed. They did not offer me any additional suggestions to reset my account.

When I try to apply for a position, I receive a "this phone number is already in use" message. I have also been unable to verify my phone number in my settings. It keeps telling me the verification code is incorrect (but it sends me the same code over and over). How can I fix this?

I am trying to set up my account and when I put my phone number in, it shows that there is another account with it in use. I did have another account before, but I went through all of my emails and I believe I have closed any previous accounts that I have. Any help finding the acocount that has my phone number attached would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chantell, I am in the same boat as you. I found two other accounts and closed them but still receive the error message that I can't verify the new one. When I try to log in to the old ones that I am aware of, it says the account is closed. If anyone here has insight I hope they can help. I went through several loops with the Chatbot to try to resolve it. I have not idea how to contact support directly.

I have set up a Freelance account but unable to because my phone number is associated with an inactive account. I had set up an old account to find work for a former employeer using my phone number on the account. I no longer have access to this account as the email is diabled and I cannot edit account information. Can someone help my set up new account with my phone number?
