I received an email yesterday 04/29/2024 that I need to verify my identity by sending an ID and a face recognition. Which I did, I followed their steps using a mobile phone and was verified and I received an email. Today, when I logged into my account 04/30/2024 just by checking my submitted proposals, they were gone. They wered moved to archives and was tagged withdrawn by Upwork. I spent connects to those 3 proposals just to be the number 1 bidder. I never received an email that my submitted proposals will be withdrawn because of this ID verification process, no notifications at all.
If this was the case, you should've not allowed the freelancer to send proposals in the first place until all the verifications are done. Now, will my connects be refunded? I think it is unfair if you will not refund my connects because the mere fact that you cannot resubmit your proposal to the same job post because you withdrawn our proposal is already a disservice. I hope this gets sorted out.

Hi ArjayM,
This is the similar case of mine as well. 9 proposals were withdrawn by Upwork for verification. During verification the jobs were cancelled by Upwork and after successfully being verified, I have not received connects for those cancelled proposals. I think they should be reverted back because I was verified but I lost the clients as well as proposals.
Kindly resolve the issue as early as possible.

It was resolved via support ticket. The action taken by the support team: they will refund the connects I used for the withdrawn proposals as a courtesy. I have also recommended to streamline their process, that if you are not fully verified, like you have not sent ID verification yet, you will not be allowed to send proposals to avoid further inconvenience on the part of the freelancer and added workload for the support team to solve the complaint and refund the connects used.
To support, please add the action taken so that other people in the community will find the answers helpful before sending an email asking to mark the topic as closed and accept the solution. Otherwise, your reply wouldn't be helpful at all to the community looking for answers. Thank you!
