The beneficiary name is mismatched

Hi there, I linked my PayPal account but I forgot that I registered my upwork account under my middle name, now it's blocked, I did the request for the name change already, I just wanted to know if there's any other thing I need to do or keep in mind

Hi all,

 

Our account support team actively reviews verified name mismatches. Please allow up to 4 business days for the team to review the name mismatch on your account. If our team finds an issue with your payment method, we will reach out to you directly with instructions on how to correct it.

 

In case you're adding a company account, the team will reach out to complete verification. You'll be asked to provide personal identification as well as one of the following:

 

  • An original bank statement showing the company name, as well as your name
  • A business license showing your name and the company name
  • Articles of Incorporation showing the company name with you as an authorized agent/owner

If it’s been more than 4 business days and you still see the name mismatch notification on your account, you can contact support by: 

 

  1. Please visit Contact Support and click the ‘Chat with Upwork' button.
  2. Type a question or topic and select ‘Send’. The bot will find relevant Help articles for you.
  3. The chatbot will ask you to confirm if you need additional help. If you confirm that you need additional help, you will be asked to confirm the account type you need help with.
  4. From there, the support options available to you will be listed. Select either of the options to be able to contact the Upwork Support Team.

Hello,

 

This is the first time i am using upwork and already worked some time on a customers project. I saw that i have to add payment method to be able to withdraw earnings. Here comes the best part...

 

i have special characters in first and last name and cannot change this in upwork personal account (as this is always highlited as wrong). I used to live with a mismatch between name in ID and in local bank account. It is how it is they say. But after wasting hours here on upwork i cannot even raise a ticket or write support email or even call support line in order to add valid payment method to my account. I cannot do nothing as this stupid chatbot only allowes me to go throught the same documentation over and over. Having no other options than chatbot as a customer contact makes this whole thing so unreliable. It really seems like very basic issue which i am facing for last month and noone even contacted me to go through that process and see what other options we have... I dont event know where to go to get attention..

I keep receiving that there's a mismatch, yet what's on the certificate of earnings is what is on my account. How can this be solved?

I am having the exact same issue and cannot reach support through your chat bot. Please help! 

I am facing a similar problem connecting my paypal account which is registered under my agency account to my agnecy account on upwork. i have been going back and forth regarding this since the last 1 week but not finding any resoltions whatsover. i would need an immediate soltuon or help on the same.

Your payment method has been deactivated because the beneficiary name on your payment method does not match the name on your Upwork account.

I already matched my Upwork name to the benificiary name on my payment method prior to this but still got the error. Hope you can help!

Hello, 

I have a the same problem. I am using a company bank account of my own company and I received this notifacation 'Your payment method has been deactivated because the beneficiary name on your payment method does not match the name on your Upwork account". Nobody from the team reach out to me to complete verification, so I don't know where and what I have to prodive to proove my personnal identification.

You may want to check the spam/junk folder in case you do not see the notification in your inbox.

Thanks for your reply. I have finally received an email from them (I had nothing in my spam), they have only just written to me (certainly thanks to your intervention, thank you).

 

I sent back some elements, but again it's refused. There's no explanation for the refusal, so how do I know what's wrong. I'm based in France and I've been working for an American company for over 3 weeks now without being able to get paid by Upwork because of processes which are not explained at all.

 

I understand that there are checks to be made, that's totally normal; but when documents are refused, the team should at least explain why, otherwise there's never a solution. It's been 3 times now that I've sent different documents and each time I've received the same message telling me that it's been refused and that I should send another document with all the information, except that ALL the information the team is asking for are ALREADY in the documents I'm sending !!!!!!!!!!!!

 

How can I do this? It's becoming a real nightmare and I'm really losing patience.

My payment method is still inactive. I emailed the contact support team but haven't received a reply. The issue is that the name on Upwork doesn't match the name on my bank account. I don't have a last name, so my bank account name is just "Ayesha," but on Upwork, it's "Ayesha Malik" because Upwork required a last name and wouldn't let me skip that field.

Hello, I have been adding my Paypal account for 4 business days and it still appears as inactive. I should note that last week I corrected my name since it was not complete by adding my middle name, third name, and last name with their respective verification through an ID document. One of the recommendations I read was to check the name on the Earnings Certificate, in which I could see that my name appears with the letter N instead of the letter Ñ. Can you tell me if my account has not yet been activated due to this situation with my name?

I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your payment method. I checked and see that it has been added. However, you need to enter your tax identification number in Manage finances > Tax information > Taxpayer identification so that your payment method will be active.
