The beneficiary name is mismatched

Hi there, I linked my PayPal account but I forgot that I registered my upwork account under my middle name, now it's blocked, I did the request for the name change already, I just wanted to know if there's any other thing I need to do or keep in mind

Hi all,

 

Our account support team actively reviews verified name mismatches. Please allow up to 4 business days for the team to review the name mismatch on your account. If our team finds an issue with your payment method, we will reach out to you directly with instructions on how to correct it.

 

In case you're adding a company account, the team will reach out to complete verification. You'll be asked to provide personal identification as well as one of the following:

 

  • An original bank statement showing the company name, as well as your name
  • A business license showing your name and the company name
  • Articles of Incorporation showing the company name with you as an authorized agent/owner

You can learn more about this in this help article.

 

If it’s been more than 4 business days and you still see the name mismatch notification on your account, you can contact support by: 

 

  1. Please visit Contact Support and click the ‘Chat with Upwork' button.
  2. Type a question or topic and select ‘Send’. The bot will find relevant Help articles for you.
  3. The chatbot will ask you to confirm if you need additional help. If you confirm that you need additional help, you will be asked to confirm the account type you need help with.
  4. From there, the support options available to you will be listed. Select either of the options to be able to contact the Upwork Support Team.

Dear Ronna,

Need your great support! I messaged customer support about 6 hours ago but no one replied yet. I would like to solve below issue asap.
 
Kindly help to reactivate payment account and solve the mismatched name issue. I just completed and passed ID verification yesterday and now my payment account has been deactivated due to the beneficiary name mismatched.
 
I have used my Paypal account to withdraw payment and have no problems before (You can see payment withdraw records in your system). I didn't change my name, and they were working before verifying ID.
 
I think the reason is that English and Traditional Chinese name characters difference. The following is my explanation, I hope it will be helpful.
 
- PayPal account beneficiary name : Last name + First name (in Traditional Chinese) (I can’t enter English name in PayPal because it needs match passport ID. In mandarin countries it puts "Last name" firstly.)
- PayPal account email : Last name + First name + my birthday + "@" + "gmail . com"
- Upwork account name : First name + Last name
- Upwork profile name : First name + first letter of Last name
 
Last week I sent my passport/ driver license/ National ID for ID verification. You can check mandarin character on my documents to conduct cross validation in your system. If needed, I can make a video call with your team to prove it!

Hi!

 

I have been trying to connect my Bank and my Paypal with the same name, but still failed in the verification. Both accounts were under my name and same address and it is also the same on my upwork profile. I hope someone can help me with this issue

Your payment method has been deactivated because the beneficiary name on your payment method does not match the name on your Upwork account.

Yes! Your account no longer shows the name mismatch error for your payment methods.

I'm having an issue with adding a payment method due to name mismatch. I updated my last name due to marriage and my bank account name is also updated to my legal married name. However, I still encounter the error. Maybe its because my Certificate of Earnings still has my maiden name on it. Please help, I'm unabel log a ticket for the reverification of my name.

Hi ma'am ...the same thing is happening on my account it is saying mismatch name. I'm using a cash app card and my cash app tag is different than my real name. I've tried to raise this issue and I have been going through it for over a week nobody has emailed me from the chat bots and I did not get any verification that I needed so I can get paid I really need that money and I hope you can help me fix my problem please.

Hi, My upwork account name is Riyaz Cader short form for Segu Abdul Cader Riyaz Mohamed. My local bank account name is full name. Payment method verification in progress and it's more than 72 hours now. How can i fix this?

My direct-to-bank payment method has been deactivated since my Upwork account name does not match the name in my bank account.

But I have the same name on both and also use the same?

Hi,

 

A few days ago, I attempted to add PayPal as my payment method, but I received an error stating that the beneficiary name does not match the name on my Upwork account, even though both accounts have the same name.

 

Over the past few days, I have tried updating both my PayPal and Upwork accounts to include my full name (second first name and second last name), but I am still encountering the same issue.

 

Is there a solution for this, or a specific page that could assist me? PayPal is the only method available for me to receive my payments.
