The beneficiary name is mismatched

Hi there, I linked my PayPal account but I forgot that I registered my upwork account under my middle name, now it's blocked, I did the request for the name change already, I just wanted to know if there's any other thing I need to do or keep in mind

Hi all,

 

Our account support team actively reviews verified name mismatches. Please allow up to 4 business days for the team to review the name mismatch on your account. If our team finds an issue with your payment method, we will reach out to you directly with instructions on how to correct it.

 

In case you're adding a company account, the team will reach out to complete verification. You'll be asked to provide personal identification as well as one of the following:

 

  • An original bank statement showing the company name, as well as your name
  • A business license showing your name and the company name
  • Articles of Incorporation showing the company name with you as an authorized agent/owner

You can learn more about this in this help article.

 

If it’s been more than 4 business days and you still see the name mismatch notification on your account, you can contact support by: 

 

  1. Please visit Contact Support and click the ‘Chat with Upwork' button.
  2. Type a question or topic and select ‘Send’. The bot will find relevant Help articles for you.
  3. The chatbot will ask you to confirm if you need additional help. If you confirm that you need additional help, you will be asked to confirm the account type you need help with.
  4. From there, the support options available to you will be listed. Select either of the options to be able to contact the Upwork Support Team.

Hello Ramy,

 

I am sorry to hear about the issue you encountered when adding your payment method. I checked your account, and it looks like you have deleted them. Could you please try to add your payment method again and get back to us if the same error appears or if the issue persists?

Hi Support Team,

I've been trying to fix the mismatch issue of my account for Direct to Local bank payment method. I've already tried using the chat bot but it keeps referring me back to support articles.

Please help me resolve this because I am sure that my Upwork profile name is exactly how it is in my bank account.

Would really appreciate your help.

I checked and it appears that your payment method is already accepted and will be active after 3 days security period is completed.

Hey there Team! 
the issue i am facing is that my account name was previously "haider ali" and i have changed it to "wasee ul hassan" and also verified it but my financial account is still showing the old name , and i cant withdraw any funds or attach any bank.

 

i even tried generating a ticket but it shows error in that too! Kindly help me out as it's causing me alot inconvenience.

Hello,

I wanted to address the importance of maintaining consistent information between Upwork and your bank account.

Upwork verifies accounts using the ID information you provide, which should match your bank details. If the name on your Upwork account differs from the name on your bank account, you may face difficulties withdrawing funds.

Just as you open a bank account using the same name as on your ID, your Upwork profile should also reflect the exact same name for seamless transactions.

I recommend ensuring that both your Upwork and bank account names match your ID and are accurate for smooth verification and withdrawal processes.

Hey Brother! Really Appreciate the response! But that's the case! All of my Upwork's name, name on ID, and Bank Name are same! 
but the name of my Upwork financial account is still the old name of my profile, thats the main issue 😞

Hi Wasee,

 

I checked your account but I don't see a name mismatch error; however, you do need to complete your W-8BEN form. All non-U.S. individual taxpayers who receive payments on Upwork must complete the W-8BEN form to verify that they are not a U.S. Person, and are performing services outside of the United States.

  • Please make sure you fill out your Tax residence card along with filing a W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E in your account's Tax Information
  • If you completed a W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E prior to December 2022, you will need to complete a new Form W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E

If you are representing an entity, you must complete a Form W-8BEN-E instead of the W-8BEN.

 

Without this form as proof that you are based outside the U.S., we’ll be required to withhold up to 30% of your future earnings on Upwork and send them to the IRS. As long as a W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E form is correctly filled out and valid, we are not required to withhold at this rate. You can find more information about it here

Hello, my name is Chidubem Victor Olisaemeka but my Geegpay account (Wells Fargo US Account) name is Victor Olisaemeka. I resolved this last year. Please can you check and rectify this because I have been using the account for constant withdrawals and would love to continue.

Hello there! I'm having the same problem, since in my PayPal I have Both parents last names, I already updated Upwork to have my second last name too just to try fixing the issue, but it still says that the names from Upwork and PayPal ¨Mismatch¨, I would appreciate your support in this. Thanks a lot!
