Waste Connect and Scammer.

Hi, I'm new to upwork. My question after I used this platform for 2 months.

1. Why do so many clients not review proposals?

If a client views my proposal and chooses another, that's fine, at least they looked at it first. But most clients don’t even view the proposal at all.

It's a waste of my Connects. Can I cancel a proposal to get those Connects back?

2.I'm a developer, and it feels like there are a lot of scams. They create phishing jobs with high pay and ask if you know how to fix a bug. However, the project they send you might inject code to steal information from your computer.

I have the same question about Waste Connect. Most clients don’t even view the proposal at all. Can any of the experts reply, please?

No, you will not get connects back if you withdraw your proposal.

Only 50% of the jobs end with a hire and many of the job posts get 50+ proposals.

You do the math - 1% chance of being hired.

This is still much better than you working and your client is suspected of being a fraud, and you have worked and you don't get paid even though you have turned on the time tracker, and... there is payment verified, but...😁

You think it's funny until it's your money being withheld. The first project I bid on they tried to send injected code. He's absolutely right.

I have eviction court this morning because my last contract was a scammer and Upwork doesn't protect it's customers who pay to get connects & jobs and service fees.

I felt it was a huge red flag being asked to do everything off platform. I even contacted support before the contract was active with my concerns & was told it was fine.

I still used the Upwork timer and took Upwork screenshots of everything I worked on. After 10 hours & invading my personal privacy they tried to offer a "bonus" and asked me to send a $200 Google Play card. I blocked the client, the "hiring manager" & his "business manager" and ended the job & contacted support.

After 5 days in Pending, it went to review & I was notified their CC wasn't any good.

In my account the invoice says I RETURNED the payment to THEM but I got a message from a moderator that it was because some of the hours were manually logged.

WHICH IS IT? I Stayed on the platform the whole time & I haven't gotten paid for ANY of the hours I worked.
