I've just finished a job and it is no longer as work in progress but not as completed job either. It disappeared from my profile.

Hi Paula Andrea,

I checked the recently ended contract and see that it is for an hourly contract. Contracts will not show on the profile until payment has been made. All applicable time that you log in your Work Diary, whether tracked or added as manual time, is invoiced to your client according to the schedule below:

• Week 1 — You log time using the Upwork desktop app (Time Tracker)
• Week 2 — Your time is invoiced to your client on Monday, and they have until Friday to review your work
• Week 3 — Earnings become available on the following Wednesday

Ok thank you, so I guess the other hourly contract I had before appeared immediately after because the client paid a bonus... 

I don't think it should disappear from the work in progress though
