PDF editing software

I have a question for the editors and proofreaders on this site. What do you use as a PDF editor? Adobe Acrobat is so expensive and I'd rather not pay the money if there is an alternative.

With PDF-XChange Editor, you can manipulate pages to combine multiple documents and/or sections of documents.
