You're right, I've been contacted for a huge translation job at $ 0.03 a word... I had to turn it down. Even if the total offered was between $300 and $400, I don't fancy spending a week translating for peanuts, I still have better things to do!
I was recently hired to review translations sample it was an easy job because all 9 were machine translations. If these freelancers always deliver machine translalation, $0.03/word is a very easy way to make a lot of money in no time.
