This past quarter, the community team has been busy working on bug fixes and new feature launches to improve the community experience! We know change is hard but also exciting, so we've listed our recent updates and fixes below for you to peruse at your convenience.
New Features 🥳
Text Editor Updates
We have updated the text editor used throughout Community to the latest version. You'll see some slight variations in the layout but functionally is very similar. It's a more modern editor that supports what many have come to expect, such as pasting images directly into a post, the ability to resize content/images more easily, and some updated Emojis.
Private Profile Stats
You'll now be able to view stats about your profile and see a quick summary of your community activity. This feature is only viewable to the individual user logged in.
Event and Community Alerts
We launched a new banner to make community-wide alerts available to all. We are excited to now have the ability to occasionally display different forms of notifications in Community about upcoming features, events, or announcements.
Threaded Forums
One of the most requested features is finally here! We have enabled threaded replies in the forums. You can choose to use Threaded or Linear display within the Display Settings. When you click Reply, it will also load the editor on the same page. For the more active members in the forums, this should be a nice change that results in less page refreshing.
Updated Search Page
You can now easily search wherever you are by clicking the top of any section throughout our community platform. We've also updated our search page to allow for searching of Private Messages and Places.
Enabled Private Messenger Ignore Button
Within Private Messenger, we've enabled the feature to ignore members. You can access the "ignore user" button through the hamburger menu in the top right-hand corner of your message.
Sticky Header
We heard you when you mentioned you would love for the header to always remain visible—the choice is now yours!
You can now enable this feature within your settings page if you'd like. Simply go into My Settings, select Custom Settings, and check the box to add a fixed header.
Updated Message Feed Nodes
We have updated the Discussion Landing Page to include the updated version of the message feed! By default, this will show the most recent topics; however, you can also choose to filter by most kudoed, solved, or any topics with no replies. We've also included a more button at the bottom to allow you to view the latest activity in this section.
Groups
We launched our first Groups—online hubs where members of the Upwork community can connect in even more meaningful ways. Groups help everyone build up their business and each other—because investing in each other is good for business. Keep an eye out in 2022 for more information and news of Groups as we continue to build out the program.
My Group Hubs (coming soon!)
We've added "My Groups" as a component on your user profile page, along with automatic Group Hub subscriptions. Please note, it will only be visible if you are in a Group Hub.
Group Buttons
We have improved the button to properly show the drop-down option to choose to create other forms of content in a Group.
