We’re posting to let you know about a few recent updates to our Terms of Service, specifically our Privacy Policy and Fixed Price Escrow Instructions.
Fixed Price Service Contract Escrow Instructions
These escrow instructions cover payments for fixed price service contracts on Upwork. We are transitioning to a new Arbitration Service Provider, Ejudicate d/b/a BRIEF, to handle user disputes in the event that the internal dispute process is not successful. This service is optional in all cases, and will only occur when both the freelancer and client agree to it. We have also updated the fee schedule for these arbitrations to account for vendor and market changes.
You can take a look at Section 7 and Appendix A to review the changes we’ve made to the arbitration service provider, process, and fees. These changes will be effective as of January 15, 2022. The previous version will remain in effect until then, which can be found at the link above under the updated escrow instructions.
Privacy Policy
We have also updated our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement (DPA).
What's new in the update? We’ve made revisions to:
- Reflect changes required by new privacy laws and regulations
- Reorganize information and make things easier to understand
- Provide more information about your rights to access, delete, and otherwise control your data
