bad behaviour of upwork

i was invited for job role which i accepted now before getting whole project, the client ask me to do more then whole job as a milestone1- which confuses me, the JOB DESCRIPTION was to fix 2-3 presentation page of a pitch deck in 4 to 5 hours and CLIENTwas asking full presentation fix 9 slide of pitch deck in less then 1 hour as first milestone - we have video call i straightely asked it will be first iteration of the presentation and what fix do you looking for, client said make it more professional and presentation and have given me full creative freedom after one hour he asked me the project and was upset with the outcome and ask for contract end, money to be refund even when i submitted work and it was first iteration, 2ND AND 3RD WILL HAVE MORE REFINE JOB. First iteration of the whole work which was 4 times more work than his original job post and within 1/4 of the original time, I explained to him but he did not try to understand and dispute the refund started. And by the way he has hired 2 freelancers for the same project.

On dispute - here where upwork magic come in work, upwork refund his escrow money even after i dispute and even after i have submitted work as asked and more so i have given proof to upwork but upwork have given his money back but the funny thing is that his private negative comment has drop my JSS rating  to 73% from 100 i have one other active client at this time and he being my client from more the 16 weeks i have got my 100% JSS because of him.

Now here is the bad behaviour of upwork start- I asked why I have not got full money for my milestone, why you have refunded his fund from an escrow account and why even though I am not getting fully paid for my work but still his negative private feedback lowered my JSS score, WHY?.

NOW here shade behaviour of upwork started- I asked upwork for a reason but upwork response was we can NOT tell you. How can i work like that where my JSS score gets lower- does not get proper reply and does not get full payment but get the worst part of being a freelancer.  The magic bad private feedback. WHAT A SHADY SCAM BY UPWORK. KEEP THE BAD SHADY WORK UP.

okay, @ Jeanne H  "I have lost count of how many times I have noticed and reported posts missing posts."  you mention in your last post.

My question, the main question is this if this happens so many times in your past  and then you should be well aware of such an incident and should  be able to identify what's happening, maybe the post was deleted or something else happened rather than using past experience, you directly accusing me of the thing you assume.

You have experienced a similar incident in the past And even after you accuse me of something you assume on a public platform which was wrong,   I am quoting your line"I do apologize, not because I made an error, but because of the removal of the original post, my response was irrelevant and in error. I have repeatedly asked, insisted, and demanded that posts not be removed, especially when it violates absolutely no standards. But you see the response from moderators." I personally think there is some fault in your basic personality which says it is okay to wrongfully accuse someone on a public platform and then find an excuse to water down your bad judgement @  Jeanne H  just say sorry and move forward  PLUS try to become better while posting over a public platform for someone else. Especially when that platform links with income/earning of someone, be mindful, be professional.

i totally agree with you Lorraine, Mine client was **Edited for Community Guidelines** I have many more experiences like this, clients really use their power to get free work from freelancers. Let's see what happens.

Upwork has serious issues, but they are not in the habit of stealing from freelancers.

Was this a third job? Or the completed one, or the working one ?

You are not kept in the dark. You know the issues with the client and what the client claimed. Upwork may not tell you everything, but you know what happened, but you don't agree.

Before you look for jobs, use the Academy to learn how to use the platform correctly and pay special attention to how jobs and contracts must be established.

I can identify, Rakesh, since Upwork does not protect its freelancers, and may employ "AI" to resolve some disputes. Who knows what this customer said to get out of having the money released to you, but it's Upwork's policies which should not allow for that. There are too many crazies out there, and the customer isn't always right!

Honestly, I don't know what JSS is and don't give a rat's tail. I am a law school educated legal freelancer who prides themselves in giving 110% to every assignment. There are imbalanced people out there who will never be pleased no matter what, and will resort to negative private feedback just to be nasty. Upwork should be able to weed this crap out right away and remove it, but they don't do that either.

Also, when customers resort to filing disputes to get back at freelancers for telling them that they can no longer work with them because of "professional differences," and Upwork enables these people to screw hard working freelancers out of well-earned money, whether $500, $5,000 or more, that's when the problem is one that all freelancers need to be mindful of.

For Upwork, when a customer sets a weekly hourly maximum, let's say 5 hours, it doesn't matter whether those 5 weekly hours are tracked through logging into Upwork or manually inputting the hours - 5 hours a week is 5 hours a week, and the customer should not be able to turn around and file a dispute, once they set the hourly maximum and they advise the freelancer to go ahead and bill.

I was recently screwed out of $500 by a SHADY SCAMMER by the name of **Edited for Community Guidelines**

There should actually be an Upwork WALL OF SHAME for freelancers to share "clients from **Edited for Community Guidelines**" with others, to warn them what to look out for!

Upwork moderators - what the heck is going on? You restore a post using names? Good heavens, what a mess! OK, so a new person removed the post, but a senior moderator put it back, with names included? Apparently the algorithm and/or moderators need re-training.

Hi all,

Apologies for the confusion as one reply from this thread was removed in error, it has now been restored. That said, please note that other replies that came after have been removed as they violated our Community Guidelines. Please, be mindful of the Community Guidelines and be respectful toward other users when posting.

This is unacceptable. By removing one of the posts, it changed the conversation entirely. There was no reason to remove the post. This continues to happen. How does one post get removed from a conversation? It is either intentional, someone doesn't understand posts, or it is the algorithm/filters/ etc.  Whatever the reason, this continues to happen and it is not acceptable.

Hello Jeanne,

Yes, the removal of that reply was a mistake, and we restored it as soon as we realized it. I am sorry for this, as I understand it caused confusion, which escalated into some other replies needing to be removed, and that's unfortunate. This has been addressed internally and has been a learning opportunity.

To clarify, moderators may remove posts if they violate our Guidelines or are written in a tone that is inappropriate for this Community. Some of our moderators are still in training, and as they gain experience, occasional mistakes are inevitable. We are continuously working to improve, and your feedback is valuable in that process.
In terms of filters, they may also remove a post or prevent you from posting in the first place if you use certain terms. For example, today, we had to add "WealthSnap" to the filters as we got spammed with it. We're doing our best to balance the blocking of spam with the Community experience using the tools we have available in Khoros, our Community platform.

That being said, I also want to gently remind everyone that, even in frustrating situations, it's important to maintain respect and adhere to our Community Guidelines. While the way this situation escalated was understandable, it did lead to a violation of those guidelines, which is why further action was taken.

If you have any additional feedback or questions, Jeanne, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you for your understanding.

You cannot train your moderators at commercial platform. Or your clients is beta-testers for own money? I think you must refund such cases. As option with connects.

I want to know why you restored a post complete with full names.

Thank you for noticing, Jeanne. Those names should've been edited out after restoring, and they have been now. Apologies again for this whole situation.

Hi Jeanne H

I have sent you two private messages, conantain of the first post was also posted here. It was the reply of yours to one of the posts about my authenticity or something like that but I guess the moderator also removed/deleted your and my post, Don't know why?

By removing just one post, it changed the entire discussion. It made it appear that you were using another name and responding to yourself. That was what I was responding to in the messages.

I do apologize, not because I made an error, but because of the removal of the original post, my response was irrelevant and in error. I have repeatedly asked, insisted, and demanded that posts not be removed, especially when it violates absolutely no standards. But you see the response from moderators.

The posts are supposed to be deleted only when they violate the "community standards."

Freelancers and clients, we need to be diligent about monitoring messages, and please post to the moderators when messages disappear. I have lost count of how many times I have noticed and reported posts missing posts.
