Getting started on Upwork can take a lot of work and focus. To help make this process a little easier, we’ve created this post where you can request feedback on your profile. The community is full of experienced Upwork freelancers who are passionate about helping others. These users will review your profile and provide feedback based on their experience.

I reviewed your main profile and specialized profile and everything looks good.

 

Hundreds of thousands of freelancers—even Top-Rated and Top-Rated Plus—are finding it difficult to get profile views and responses to their proposals these days. With the boosted feature in full effect, getting your proposal viewed is hard.

 

Keep applying for jobs that match your qualifications/skills by writing great cover letters. Make sure you write a custom cover letter based on the client's job: 1) acknowledge the job you are applying for; 2) highlight your qualifications; 3) explain how you will solve their problem; and finally, 4) request an Upwork Zoom call to discuss their project.

 

You will eventually start winning more jobs. Good luck!

Your photo is terrible! It's blurry and the background is totally confusing. 

This is one of the first things people see on your profile page ... and it's not very good. Find a clear picture with a plain background and use that.

Your profile looks good. The only two issues I see are with your title and overview/summary.

 

Title: There is a misspelled word in your title and each word should be capitalized: Sound Editor/Sound Mixer/Sound Designer.

 

Overview/Summary: I like your summary; it provides good experience and background information. However, you should add more information that focuses on the client's needs. While clients expect to read about your skills and qualifications, what they really want to know is how your skills/qualifications will benefit them. In essence, a client would ask: "If I need a theatrical or film production with quality sound editing, what could Anouar do for me?"

 

To answer this question, you need to make your summary more client-focused. Maybe you could say something like:

 

I am a passionate Sound Editor/Production professional with 9 years of expertise in the films, theatre, television advertisements, and music. After graduating from the Marrakech School of Visual Arts, I have worked on numerous local and international projects as a sound editor and sound recordist. I specialize in voice-over recording, music production, and film post-production, and I am known for my professionalism, creativity, and ability to deliver high-quality results.

 

When my clients request compelling music and audio production, I elevate their sound projects to the next level by ensuring a high-level of technical quality for live and recorded projects originating in studios, film, or from remote pickup points.

Delete that first sentence. Go right into what you can do for others. They don't need a clever introduction. They need to know what you can do for them.

In the second paragraph you say, "my passion is setting up HR departments from scratch." Your passion doesn't count for anything. It's nice for yourself, but your clients want results. So just rephrase that as "I can establish solid, bonafide human resources departments from scratch."

 

That's a fairly incredible thing to do and your potential clients may well be thrilled to see that. But they're not hiring you because your passionate, they're hiring you because you are really good at what you do.

Very good start to your profile. Here are a couple of small improvements you can make. These are mostly cosmetic and will not help "improve" your chances of being seen:

 

Overview/Summary: Your summary is good; it talks directly to prospective clients. However, I think you should add some spacing to make it easier to read. Also, there are a few terms that should be capitalized and explained a little more. For example:

There are several problems with your profile. Let's go over them:

 

Title: You should capitalize each word in your title. Also, your title is not focuses on a specific skill or occupation. Being an IT professional does not give potential clients any idea about how you can help them. However, the other terms are good. I suggest you remove the IT Professional and focus your title like this: Digital Marketing Specialist | Data Entry | Ecommerce.

 

Overview/Summary: Absolutely do not--in any way--claim to be a Top-Rated or Top-Rated Plus freelancer if you are not top rated. I'm not sure how long you have been on Upwork, but your profile does not have a Top-Rated badge.

 

The remainder of your summary is good. However, I suggest adding more substance to help convince potential clients that they should hire you. I would also add some spacing and try to focus on the client and how you will help solve their problem. For example:

 

If you need help scaling up your business online, send me a message and let’s talk about how I can help you grow your bussiness using a viable digital marketing strategy. I have a feeling you think this is a video game. You have a cartoon image instead of a photo and you are very miserly with your write-up. What did you write -- an entire three sentences! I'm completely underwhelmed.

 

Would you hire someone -- not even a person, but an avatar -- for $30 an hour based on three whole sentences? I wouldn't. 

Look up other profiles of successful data analyst types. See how they sell themselves. You want to be personable, confident and establish your expertise. Those are the main ingredients of a successful profile.

There is no guaranteed way to get your profile to the top of Upwork's search results. The search results are rotated on occasion, so your profile might appear on page 2, and other times it might appear on page 42.

 

However, your proposals and cover letters are probably more responsible for the lack of hires. A lot of freelancers—even Top-Rated and Top-Rated Plus—are finding it difficult to get responses to their proposals these days. Keep applying for jobs that match your qualifications/skills by writing great cover letters.

Your rate is so low that it suggests you are not confident in what you do. Confidence has to come from you. No one else will have confidence in you if you don't have any. I suggest $20 at least. And, at that rate, you will do as well as you would with four other jobs at $5 per hour.

You can exchange messages with a client who reaches out to you in the Upwork Message Center. However, it is against the Upwork Terms of Service to request or share contact information prior to the start of a contract.

The suggestions must have worked because your profile looks good. Your summary is client-focused and it looks like everything else is in place.

 

If you haven't already, you should consider adding a project catalog. Greetings are nice, but they take up space. The first two lines are important because the client sees these two lines when they search, and you want to make an impact with meaningful words. Besides, your name is on your profile, so they already see it.

 

Then, correct the grammar issues and add some more strength like this:
