Hello Dorian,

Welcome to Upwork.

Andrea is an Upwork Moderator. The moderators provide valuable information to freelancers and moderate the forums, but they do not provide profile reviews. Other freelancers offer to review profiles and provide feedback.

I looked through your profile and it looks great. Your title, summary, portfolio, skills and employment history all look good.  I do not see any problems or issues that would prevent a client from hiring you.

If you have specific questions about freelancing or anything related to your account, proposals, problems, etc., you can ask them in the Freelancer's Forum.

Hello Uttam,

Welcome to Upwork.

You have good information in your profile, but here are a few things to consider that might help improve it:

1) I always recommend freelancers pay close attention to the first 200-250 characters in their overview/summary. Why? Because only the first two sentences (approximately 200-250 characters) are shown to clients when they search for freelancers. This means you have very little space to grab their attention, and you want clients to see their goals (your services) in that space. You don't want to waste any space repeating your title, and you certainly don't want to waste space with emojis.

celgins_1-1701537416982.png

2) You do a good job of separating your different skill areas in your summary (i.e., graphic design, video editing, and data entry). However, to reduce the chances of confusing, you might want to focus your main profile on one skill area. I see you already have a Graphic Design specialized profile, which is good. I would create a separate Data Entry specialized profile as well since it is unrelated to graphic design and video editing.

The content in your main profile is good, but focusing your main profile might help potential clients focus on their specific needs.

The other areas of your profile look good.

Hi Chaman,

Competition is high, so getting jobs on Upwork can be a challenge.

Overall, your profile looks okay. However, I would tell clients specifically which services I provide instead of listing your knowledge areas. In fact, you could change some of your knowledge areas to services. Here is an example:

With 15 years of experience in UK Accountancy & Taxation, I can help you prepare and file micro entity statutory accounts FRS105, small and medium entity statutory accounts FRS102 1A, corporation tax returns CT600, participator loan tax returns CT600A, group and consortium relief CT600C, and R&D tax credit and RDEC returns CT600L.

I also help businesses prepare and file self-explanatory working papers, self-assessment tax returns SA100, HMRC worldwide disclosures, partnership tax returns SA800, and management accounts per UK GAAP preparation.

(Then, tell clients your approach to providing these services:

  • How do you communicate with them and how often?
  • Talk about your timeliness and accuracy, and how you can work within their schedules if necessary.
  • Also talk about how you can protect their sensitive financial data and maintain quality standards.

Remember--you are competing with thousands of accounting/taxation professionals, so clients need several reasons to choose you.)

Abdul Wahab

Abdul,

I like a lot of your profile very much, but a word to the wise: Clients don't hire you because you are passionate about your work. So, I think your opening needs to be changed.

Clients hire you because you can get the job done. Because you can produce results. That's why they hire you.

So your opening should be, "I am a design expert with sharp and current technical skillis who can produce images that attract and stir your audience."

Maybe not that sentence word for word, but see what I have done? In that sentence, you establish your expertise and tell people you know how to get results. That's the point of a sentence like that.

Millions of designers say they are passionate about their work. Do you think that makes you different or outstanding? It turns out that isn't even important. You might mention it in sentence 10, but certainly not in sentence 1.

The rest of your profile shows a lot of smarts. Good job.

Hello Sahin,

I agree with Prashant's message. Your profile does not have enough information to convince clients to hire you. To make your profile more appealing to clients, provide more information in your overview/summary. "Freelancer" is not a skill area, so you need to tell clients what you can do, which services you provide, and how you can help them.

Clients come to Upwork with specific needs and they look for freelancers who can get results.

Hello, I'm new here! this is my profile link. It would be great if I could get a quick review on that
https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~0164837ac00695112e
Thanks!

Ashzadul,

Fair start, but you've got some rookie mistakes.

Your job title is "I will turn ideas into expression through design." That's a long way to say "Design Expert." What you want is something short and pithy. As I understand it, Upwork sends the first portion of your profile to clients who are fishing. The first thing they will see is "I will turn your ideas into express ..." By then, it's too late. They won't know what you are getting at. Even the whole sentences is a bit confusing. Just enough to be a turn off. Try to say that in two or three words, max.

Your rate is too low. The rate does not say what you will earn. You negotiate that case by case. You can bid what you want. But on your profile a low rate looks like you are either begging or you have no confidence in your work. It's like buying a pair of shoes. Would you by a pair of new shoes that cost 2 cents? Probably, you would think, "These must be terrible shoes." A higher rate shows you value your work.

Then you say, "Designing is the perfect way to express your business terms and policies. Again, that's a bit confusing. Is designing really the perfefct way to express terms? Or policies? No, it isn't. Furthermore, what you are saying is that designing is important, which is fine, but everybody already knows it's important. Certainly anyone fishing around for a designer has already decided it's important. So what you are saying is a waste of time. They already know it's important and you are saying it in a kind of awkward way. So that should be changed.

The next sentence is where you finally get down to business. "I'm here to design your business identity and marketing content." That is exactly right. That's exactly why you are here. So you should start with that sentence. Clients don't know you and now you are telling them about yourself. Start there.

"I am a creative designer who is loves to think without the box and make something crazy." That's OK, but you are writing to business people and they are not really going to be sold on you producing something that's crazy. It's a nice touch. I get the idea. But you don't want to scare away business with your profile. You want to attract business. So I would rethink the end of that sentence. ("Outside the box" is OK, but "make something crazy" pushes that over the edge, I think.)

"Working with adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop mastering flat design style. I'm keen to help your business through design your Business card, Professional Flyer, Food Menu, Business Brochure, Image Retouching and so on."

That's great, but "and so on," is lazy writing. If it's important tell us what it is. If it's not important, why say "and so on"?

So, it needs work. One thing to do is to think of yourself as a professional who has been doing this for ten years, instead of someone who is just starting out. If you valued your work you wouldn't say "and so on." Try to think like a professional. This isn't automatic when you're new at something, but it's the attitude that is probably the most attractive to other professionals.

Good luck.

Mehrdad,

Your profile looks very good and your introductory video (the only one I watched) is impressive. But your write-up needs much improvement.

Someone with your experience should have much more to say about your editing services than what you've got. Your writing has a toss-off quality, like you didn't put much effort into it.

Just for example, you start with the job title Senior Editor. I quickly surmised that you were a writer. But no, you meant Senior Film Editor. But you didn't bother to put in the word "Film." That would help enormously, of course.

After that, you just need to explain your work with much more detail. How do you approach your editing? (Don't be too speciffic ... be friendly more than technical.)  Have you won any awards? (You must have with that type of quality work.) Are there some specific clients you could name just to give us a bit more to go on?

The idea is to write about your services, not about yourself. Don't say "I'm a hard worker." Don't say, "I am passionate about my work." If you've survived in the business this long, you are clearly a hard worker who is passionate about your work. Don't say things that are already conveyed. Give people new information (new to them). Do you have the necessary equipment? Do you have a reasonable turnover time? Do you use the latest technology? Write about your work, not about yourself. (Of course, you have to write a little about yourself, but the services you offer is what matters.)

You should be assertive. Start with this sentence: "I am an expert fillm editor with X,Y,Z experience who can deliver completed projects on time and under budget that will greatly impress your audience." If you don't like that sentence, fine, but that's the idea of the profle. Establish your expertise and tell people what you can do for them ... ie., what problems they have that you can solve.

Good luck.

Hello Marouane,

I think clients will be more attracted to your profile if your overview/summary speaks to them in sentences. This will help make your summary more client-focused where you tell them about your services and how you can solve their problems. For example:

Highly motivated Customer Service Specialist who isn't afraid to face new challenges. I can work independently or with other moderators to respond to a variety of clients' customer support questions. I can also monitor and ensure that questions from your customers are addressed within an agreed time frame.

My goal when providing customer support is to foster and grow a healthy and helpful team environment; prioritize, create, integrate and share necessary documentation for internal team members; and attend team meetings (remotely) when necessary and monitor incoming emails.

I strive to achieve goals and pre-set SLAs for clients. Part of my support includes becoming familiar with social media platforms and administrative tools, and tracking shift activities and reporting those shift activities to team leaders.

Do you need customer support and moderation for your online chat or forums? Let's discuss your needs and how I can help.

Also, you should add a portfolio to show samples of previous work or to demonstrate your skills. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you donโ€™t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

Manasvi,

I think you should revise your profile title. The title should include one ore more related skill areas, and "Microsoft Office" is not necessarily related to "Blog Writing." However, your summary does not speak of blog writing; rather, your summary includes details about healthcare administration. With that, your title should be something like: Healthcare Administrative Officer or Healthcare Administration

In your overview/summary, remove the greeting and your name: "Hello there! I'm Manasvi Keni," Why? Because only the first 200-250 characters of your summary are shown to clients when they search for freelancers. This means you have very little space to get their attention, and you want clients to see your services and skills--not greetings and your name.

Add a portfolio to show samples of previous work or to demonstrate your skills. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you donโ€™t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

Also, add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. This is especially important when the jobs are highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.

Hi MD Nurul,

One of the most important things you can do in your profile is use the first two sentences of your overview/summary to get client's attention. Clients will only see the first 200-250 characters (approximately two sentences) so you want clients to see their goals (your services) in those two sentences. You do not want to waste space with greetings, your name, or your location. You should remove this:

"Hi,, I am MD Nurul Karim, a skilled freelance professional from Saudi Arabia. "

Clients will be more likely to click if they see this within the first two sentences:

I'm an expert Data Analyst with 10+ of experience providing cost-effective web research, SEO, lead generation, digital marketing, web design and development, data entry, data mining, data research, and data conversion services for businesses across various industries.

In addition to listing what you work on, tell clients that you are timely, accurate, and communicate effectively. Also talk about how you can meet deadlines and can help maintain quality standards. You are competing with hundreds of thousands of data professionals, so clients need several reasons to choose you.

The other areas of your profile look fine.

Hi, thanks. I would like an honest review of my profile. I love progress and appreciate excellence.

Olumide,

Your write-up is fair enough, but you offer no details about your past work that would lend credibility to your claims. Your profile is written nicely, but there are 1.5 million writers on Upwork and many of them have tear sheets to show and can talk about their professional experience. What  publishers have taken you on? Where have your articles appeared? Where are your tear sheets?

Again, your profile looks fine, but it lacks the details that make you sound like a professional writer.

Anthony, thanks for your review. I'll work on it.๐Ÿ‘

Muhammad,

I recommend revising the first part of your overview/summary by removing a few things. First, remove this:

"Passionate YouTube Video Editor | Transforming Ideas into Visual Masterpieces"

This type of opening repeats your title and adds a slogan, and brings no value to clients.

Also remove: "Hi, I'm Muhammad Hammad"

The reason both of these items should be removed is because only the first two sentences of your summary (approximately 200-250 characters) are shown to clients when they search for freelancers. You have very little space to get a client's attention, and you want them to see important words--no title repeats, no slogans, no greetings, and no names.

Then, I would remove the emojis and make the first list into a paragraph:

Dedicated expert YouTube Video Editor with a fervor for turning your creative concepts into compelling visual narratives. With 3+ years of experience in YouTube video editing production, I have operated two YouTube channels in the past 2 years and completed 10+ projects on Fiverr with a 5-star rating.

The rest of your summary is long and most clients will not read all of it, but the information there sounds good.

I think your portfolio, skills, project catalog, and other profile areas look good.

Hi Nouman,

I looked through your profile and everything appears to be in good shape. Your summary does a good job of explaining your services and how you can meet a client's needs. Your portfolio looks good and your skills list contains relevant skill categories.

I would add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. This is especially important when the jobs are highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.

Everything else looks good.
