We’re rolling out a redesign of the contract room that simplifies how freelancers and clients manage their contracts. Starting July 5, freelancers and clients will see visual and navigational changes that match Upwork’s overall new look and also provide consistency for everyone’s experiences of the contract room. The rollout of this improved feature won’t disrupt freelancers and clients who are currently using the contract room, and the main functionality of the contract room hasn’t changed.
Changes to both hourly and fixed-price contract rooms
- Updated styling of the user interface
- This includes a consolidated header that shows client's or freelancer's information, the contract name, and the navigational tabs
- Contract actions moved to Overflow (...) Menu
- This consolidates the contract actions within the Overflow Menu, which is displayed as three dots in the top right corner of the header
- This week’s earnings/billings and recent files moved to new Overview tab
- This creates easier access to financial information and relevant files for the contract
- Terms & Settings tab renamed to Details
- This renaming simplifies the tab description and continues to hold specific information about the contract
- Feedback merged into Details tab
- This consolidates important aspects of the contract, which include mid-contract and end-of-contract feedback
Changes to the hourly contract room
- To-do’s merged into Overview tab
- This makes the Overview tab the first and default tab, and it contains To-do’s as a section within the tab
- Time & Payments and Work Diary merged into new Timesheet tab
- This consolidates critical timekeeping tools for the contract, and it embeds the previously redesigned Work Diary in the Timesheet tab
Changes to the fixed-price contract room
- Milestones & Earnings/Payments tab renamed to Overview
- This renaming accurately reflects the tab’s function, which provides at-a-glance information about the contract
- Milestones are represented as a visual timeline
- This visual representation of complete, active, and future milestones makes it easier to understand the next actions to take in the contract
