Identity Verification

Hi Team, 

 

Today I got my Identity Verification tab in my settings, I have a few questions: -

Q.1) I don't have any last legal name so how are you guys gonna verify my Identity?

Q.2) In my UpWork profile, my current name is "Tushar Sharma", but legally I don't have a last name so what should I do next to get my UpWork Account Verified?

Q.3) My last name in my UpWork profile i.e. "Sharma" is used by me because it was required by UpWork account registration

 

Let me know your thoughts on it.

Hi Tushar,

 

If you are eligible or required to receive an “Identity Verified” badge, you can complete the two stages by going to Identity Verification in your Settings.

 

Freelancers requested to submit identification documents should submit any of the documents listed during the verification process. Note that the list is different for each country.

 

If you do not have any documents from the list, you can submit a different government-issued ID, ensuring it’s unexpired and valid. This will trigger a manual review process. Acceptable documents include passport, national ID card (NIC/CNIC), driver's license, NBI Clearance (Philippines only), tax ID, voter ID, postal ID, or any other valid government-issued photo ID that meets these criteria. 

 

Please note that your profile must represent you as an individual and that all the information in your profile, including your profile photo, needs to be accurate, truthful, and verifiable. We understand you may have provided a name and/or picture that you would like to update now. If that’s the case, and you’re being asked to verify your identity now, please proceed with submitting your ID and completing your Visual Verification anyways. If there is any issue or mismatch, our team will reach out to you directly to assist you.

 

Note that we occasionally ask users to re-verify because periodic checks ensure their accounts continue to reflect accurate information. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible and we thank you for your contribution to keeping Upwork a professional and safe community.

 

If you don't see a way to verify, that may be because you're not eligible yet. Please know that verification cannot be requested, but is slowly being rolled out to all talent. If the team finds the need to verify your account, you will be notified through an email, or through a notification in your account.

Hey, I got an email that my identity is verified. Is there still anything I need to do? I dont understand what's going on.

Hey Luiggi, I didnt get any answers for any of my questions. I submitted 3 e-statements and everytime support reply me a new link saying to re-verify. 
I dont know what I am missing in my bank statements

I submitted all verification documents requested including tax informtion which has my legal name.

 

When creating the account I did not realize It didn't have my legal name. I tried twice to change the name on my account and you guys keep denying it and it makes no sense to me.

 

I need to verify my payment method and inorder to do so I need my name updated on my account to my correct name. You guys have my Tax ID so you can see it is my correct name.

 

I really need some help.

I attempted to verify my identity with my Swedish ID card (IDENTITETSKORT) and my residential permit card, but both were rejected.

How can I fix it?

I'm sorry if you're having difficulties verifying your ID. Please know that If the system is rejecting your ID, it means the submission was denied. Kindly consider submitting other alternate Valid Government-issued ID. You may check this help article  for more information about acceptable documents and best practices when submitting your ID for approval.

Hello everyone,

I'm a freelancer on Upwork from Egypt, and I'm currently experiencing issues with verifying my identity using my national ID card. I've attempted the verification process multiple times, but unfortunately, I've been unsuccessful in resolving the problem.

Could someone from the Upwork support team kindly assist me in resolving this matter? I would greatly appreciate any guidance or assistance you could provide to help me complete the identity verification process successfully.

Does any of you experienced this problem? Why I got disabled when I verified already my ID before.
All my contracts been disabled I cannot post and send message to clients.

Hi everyone, I have an issue regarding identity verification, specifically the Government Issued Photo ID part. The menu provides only two options (Passport and Visa) for Egypt. However, currently, I do not possess these items. I was wondering if I can use my Government Issued Personal ID instead.

Hi there, Arjay!

 

Thanks for your response. I did try to resubmit my ID; however, I keep getting a "We had some trouble verifying your ID" message. I attempted to resubmit using both available options (passport and visa), but both resulted in the same message.

My national ID meets all the necessary criteria mentioned in the help article: a picture, name, date of birth, and address. Can you help identify any mistakes here?Screenshot from 2023-12-16 16-45-03.png

Hi Luiggi,
I came here because I have the some problem as "Ahmed" - I am not given the option to provide a photo ID (which meets the in the help article) and it says I can only provide a passport or a visa which I don't have and can't apply for any time soon, unfortunately. 

Is there any way I can provide a government-issued photo ID? Please let me know as this is very important.

I have a serious problem with the verification process - I am not given the option to provide a photo ID (My ID meets the criterea in the help article) and it says I can only provide a passport or a visa which I don't have and can't apply for any time soon, unfortunately. 

Is there any way I can provide a government-issued photo ID?
Upwork is a very important platform and losing access to it would be a serious issue to me, so any information would be very much appreciated.

My friend verified his ID using driver's license but I can't do that because there is no options for that it says only passport available we both from Ethiopia, My driver license have all the information that is needed. Thanks in advance!

There is no option for driver's license verification but only passport, and I only have driver's license.

Is there anyway you can help me get verified using my driver's license?

Hi, currently, I've been prevented from applying for jobs due to this identity verification. I have tried providing the documents; however, without success. The only method I have at my disposal to provide a version is a national ID. However, the machine seems to be unable to verify this document, probably because the document needs to be sent from both sides, and the platform only allows one picture per document.

Can some one explain why I have been asked to verify my identity? I have not earned anything, which I understand is a prerequisite to get tagged with the identiy verification. I have had almost too much trouble using this platform, my account availability is constantly being switched off. And now, I'm finding the identity verification request to be pretty invasive. One wonders if it's worth it.

I ran into this issue as I was applying for a job. I needed a verification to be sent to my phone number but after I typed it in and pressed ok, I got a notification that said this phone number is already in use by another user. This is my first and only account. What can we do to get this fixed?

I have submitted my ID for verification 4 days ago and it is still showing "We're reviewing yout documents and will get back within 1-3 business days". How long does this actually take?

 

I would appreciate your urgent support with this process as I need to get hired asap.
