Location Verification fails in Japan

Hi everyone,

I am a French national living in Japan. I have a european passeport but I am based in Tokyo and work as a freelancer under the Japanese freelance status.

I have been struggling verifying my location. Upwork ask me to upload some document, but keep rejecting them.

My guess is that it compares the name on the japanese document and the one on my passeport and they are different.

Japan does not use romanji in most of their system, so foreigners are assigned a katakana version of their name. Paul becomes ポール, and so on.

Is there a way to overcome that language barrier or are freelancers in Japan doomed forever?

Retrying using the Japanese ID worked.

Maybe I just messed up the previous uploads. Sorry for that.
