Dear Comminity managers and upwork team, 

I start around 4 days ago to actively update my profile ( I have 15+ years of experience in IT, but i have zero logged experience in UpWork) , add description following the guidelines, I also crate a video presentatio (i just removed today, i want to redo one better) and i I put my profile public and i set my availability badge for 7 week ( I had to "pay" 7 Connects).

After this  i start logging for a job, and i submit 16 proposals hopig to get one. I also read that we need to be patient.. it is th market. i understand.

Than this mornig I receive an umail drom upwork. Here you are:

What is mean? Why my profile it is not public? How i can get a job if i keep my profile private? Who if going to give me back my connect since i pay for the badge availability but clearly now it is useless becaue my profile was forced to private.

First, you need a profile picture representing yourself, not a logo. 

Clients can see your profile when you send proposals. They will also see your «available now» badge. When you will start earning, it will demonstrate you are more active on Upwork and your profile will become public.

How can i start earning if it is private? Does it menas i have to actively spent "connetcs" to make proposal to joboffer? And it is impossible for client to find me?

Hi Vincenzo,

Visibility settings help give you control over your work. They help you control when, where, and who you work with by choosing where and when your profile is displayed. They also control the display of your profile in search engines like Google.

• Public — Your profile will be visible to the entire internet, including clients, freelancers, and visitors. It’s also visible to search engines such as Google and Bing. Use this option if you want anyone with internet access to be able to view your Upwork profile.
• Only Upwork Users — Only logged-in Upwork members can find your profile and it’s hidden from search engines.
• Private — We’ll exclude your profile from the Upwork marketplace and search engines. This means clients won’t see you when they search for freelancers. People who aren’t logged into Upwork won’t be able to access your profile via a direct link. People who are logged into Upwork and have access to your direct profile link will only be able to see your first name, last initial, title, photo, rate, city, and country.

When your profile is set to private, your profile will just be shown to clients to whom you submit proposals to.

If you are a new freelancer and don't earn money on Upwork within 90 days of your first proposal, or you choose not to submit a proposal within your first 90 days, your profile will change to private. 

I just set your profile visibility to Public. Please check this help article to learn more about how you can avoid having your profile automatically set to private moving forward.

You can make your profile visibility by going to Setting --> Profile Setting --> Visibility dropdown box select Public.. I will suggest you search in community forum for answers and you will find plenty of advises / resolution.
