Upwork’s automated systems will be processing all requests and transfers as normal. However, there can sometimes be slight delays in receiving and withdrawing funds due to bank holidays. This is because banks calculate direct Upwork-to-bank-account payments in business days. Holidays and weekends are not counted as business days.
In the United States, banks tend to be closed on the following days:
2021
Dec 24: Christmas Day (observed)
2022
Dec 31: New Year’s Day (observed)
In the Philippines, banks tend to be closed on the following days:
2021
Dec 24: Christmas Eve (Special Working Public Holiday)
Dec 25: Christmas Day (Regular Holiday)
Dec 30: Rizal Day (Regular Holiday)
Dec 31: Last Day of the Year (Special Working Public Holiday)
2022
Jan 1: New Year's Day (Regular Holiday)
In Ukraine, banks tend to be closed on the following days:
2021
Dec 25: Catholic Christmas Day (Regular Holiday)
Dec 27: Special Bank holiday (transfer from Catholic Christmas on Saturday)
2022
Jan 1: New Year's Day (Regular Holiday)
Jan 3: Bank Holiday (transfer for NY on Saturday)
Jan 7: Christmas Day (Regular Holiday)
We provided the above dates to help set the stage for what to expect, but these are only a few countries where a large number Community members are located. Since Upwork users live in over 180 countries, we ask that you be aware of the bank holidays in your own country. One way to find out if your payments will be affected is to contact your own bank for a list of local holidays that could cause payment delays. Would this mean top rated freelancers won't get their withdrawals on December 31st but on January 5th instead?

Hi Karen! Upwork’s automated systems processed all requests and transfers as normal. However, there may be a delay on your bank's end. I suggest you reach out to your bank if you are not seeing funds as expected.
