What is the blue dot that turns into a question mark in sent messages? I click it, but I have no clue what it is.

These will show up the first few times you use the messaging system.  They were a sort of training tool when Upwork added new functionality.  They'll disappear after you click them a time or two.  Or, at least, they did for me.

LOL it's true.  They did randomly reappear for a while.
