Can a client end your Upwork work abruptly without any advance notice?

Can an employer end the work right away without further notice? A client just sent me an email that they dont need  me anymore effective immediately and that I must not log any hours anymore.  It's been a month now I'm having a hard time getting new job here in Upwork coz I dont have any connects availabe anymore and I dont even have funds to manage to add more connects.  What they did is so rude and I was caught off guard.

Yes, client can close job at any time. Even not need to warn you. Freelancer can do the same.

It isn't rude, it is freelance. Yep, some nice and friendly client can warn you softly. But dont wait for that from everyone.
