Welcome to this platform. Getting your 1st job you really need to focus on the job posted and bid on jobs which are relevant to your skills only. Compile a good portfolio to showcase and prepare unique porposals to submit on every job as per the job requirements.

You may want to take on a few jobs that might not be your ideal pay or are one time projects. You will start to build your credibility.

Also, connect with other freelancers on Upwork and showcase your skills. If their clients are looking for new talent, they can refer you. Your network is golden!
