How do you even buy something first and only then question yourself 'how this will be of use for me'? Like, paying money for something without understanding advantages of having it..

Personally I cancelled my Freelancer Plus subscription months ago and never was sorry about it.

I agree, it's of little use. Buying connects separately is cheaper.

I did that too. Only one very useful thing:

Seeing the bid range you have the advantage of placing your bid right near the bottom. The fact is, the cheap-o clients consistently hire the bottom dwellers.

See for yourself. Look at the client history!

It is unrealistic to believe that client will suddenly pay more than the common $6.50/hr. [if that!]
