1-2 month ago I've got 20-25 invitations to interview in 30 days. 90% of them was not fit to my skills at all. I was located at 30-40 positions in my skills area.

2 weeks ago - the was no invitations to interview at all. I was unable to find my profile in search at first 200 positions. Than I completely changed my profile to avoid invitations that not fit to my skills.

4 days ago i've got 25 views of my profile and 5-6 invintations to interview - all in 24 hours period of time. Half of them was ok with my skills, one of them i've got hired. I was at 13-15 position in search results.

Today I can't find me in search results again. And I've got only 1 view of my profile for last 3 days, and no invitations to interview.

Quite strange. looks like random changing of ratings 10x or more in 1-2 days with no reasons. up and down, down and up.. more than 10x changes with no reasons.. up down up down up down..

Hi Aleksandr,

Since there are many freelancers on the platform, search results will look different depending on who is searching and when. The requirements the client selected for a job will influence the search results they see as well.

Okay. But anyway sometimes it goes up more than 10x, sometimes moved down again. Without any reasons.

Sometimes it's 5-6 invitations in 24 hours, sometimes one in a week.
Sometimes I can find my profile at 15th position. Sometimes I can't find it in top200 (actually on 100-200th place most of profiles looks like irrelevant to search at all).

It's quite strange that sometimes my profile dropes down more than 10x, like it's irrelevant to my primary specialisation at all.

There are literally MILLIONS of freelancers.

Search result placing has to be rotated or most would never be seen, whereas others would constantly turn down work as they're swamped already. This would frustrate both freelancers and clients.

Rotation to give exposure to as many as possible is the only fair way to do it.

I cannot tell you exactly why it happens, but I think we'll learn it by time. Upwork has a search engine that must be working with a specific timing, selected keywords, meta description, profile and past job history.

No one has done the research yet. We should share our experience through a specific thread.
