Upwork uses skill categories and keywords in your title, summary, skills list, and other profile areas to match you with relevant jobs, and to help your profile appear in search results when clients search for those skills. However, no freelancer knows exactly where, how, and when their profiles rank in search results.
Either way, if your title, summary, skills, etc. have been consistently related to Shopify and WooCommerce, and you change your title and other profile areas to "Creative Writing," the algorithm must now attempt to match you with creative writing jobs.
Changes to profile titles, summaries, skills, etc., could have an effect, but the severity of any side effects will likely depend on what the change is.
