W8-BEN form for UK resident

Hi,

I am a new freelancer on Upwork.

In the tax information tab I have to fill in my Legal Name of Business.

Is that just my legal name? I don't have a company setup to do freelance work.

I also read in some threads that you have to provide your address.

But I don't see any field to fill in my address.

What should I do?

Hi Rajni,

If you don't have a registered company please provide your full legal name in that field, as it appears in your passport or other official documents, along with your personal address. Check out this help article for more details.

Hi upwork,

I am resident of UK and I have individual freelance profile. In tax information page,  what will be legal name (My name?) and what will be the country of citizen (is it my country name suppose pakistan or uk?).  I am not registered as sole trader or any small company. Still I can withdraw money from upwork to my personal account. Kindly give your answer in detail

Hi there,

Your Legal Name should be your name as it appears in your government-provided ID. In addition, when updating your Tax Information, you'll see two distinct sections; one is "Tax residence," which should reflect the information from where you currently are working, which in your case is the U.K. and the other is "Taxpayer identification," which is where you'd enter your Country of citizenship.
